Commemorative gig poster done for Trivium/All That Remains show in Columbus, Ohio. Created entirely in Illustrator.Colour scheme inspired by old Chinese prints.

when you do something like this, on the main figure, do you draw it "freestyle" amm.unplanned, lots of strokes all over till you get what you need? or is it very well planned but just looks so wild/crazy?

For this, I drew it all out as you see here for the most part. The structure of the figure, the shading and the thickness of the lines were planned and fully penciled. Then, I went into Illustrator and added the fleshy, messy skin effects.
So it's a combination of both. But it's almost completely with the pen tool, which is how it all stays so sharp.

Yeah it promises to be a pretty awesome show. Thanks for the compliment. I've never been a fan of Trivium or their album art personally, though. I'm more for All That Remains, although their latest album feels a little weaker than The Fall of Ideals...

I haven't heard their previous albums, but they're also supposed to be pretty good. They only play one or two songs off those records at concerts anymore though.
