Scars.

Until he falls asleep,
Because it’s the only way to escape into his
Dreams.
To the girl who spends her days in her bedroom,
Because the dark is more peaceful than her
Mind.
To the child who gets angry,
Because no one understands.
To the teens who self-harm,
To the ones in recovery,
To the ones that just can’t do it anymore…
Stay Strong.
For the girl who skips meals
And the boy who wears sweatshirts,
For the boy who cries,
The girl who hides,
And the ones who just can’t do it anymore.
Because darling,
You’ve come this far.
Don’t you dare give up on it, now.

Absolutely relevant and completely empathetic. It's not the quality I care about here- it's a very simple piece. But, the tone is sincere and illustrative. Many times, individuals in states such as these see their symptoms or reality in overcasting images-- The dark bedroom where they sleep off depression (that was Me in high school!), the sweatshirt in summer... These are extremely slimmed down, easy to grasp images. There's no hyperbole here, it's straight forward, "you need to read this", truth. My greatest piece of advice her is to, please, keep reaching out. You're obviously made for it, and I think many young people would relate to this raw, focused message.

The Way you have composed this can easily describe the life of a lot of people around me. I thank you so much for making such a beautiful poem. the only thing you could work on is adding a little more about the last person. it is beautiful otherwise. The way the theme is worked in so well and it is just a beautiful poem. it near brought me to tears. Dear friend,
I am truly blown away with this piece. It reflects the physical signs of depression and self-loathing; yet, you've turned it around and turned it into an appreciation of others as Art.
It's up-lifting and turns everyone into a miracle and a triumph of nature; I love how at the end, you said that they've fought so hard to stay alive and that there is hope for the future- as if you are showing them they are worth something and that they have achieved something- just by living just one day longer.
This is a beautiful piece.
I love it, and, my dear writer, if you are one of those who are going through pain, I can say, you fit the winners described in your poem.

This touches my heart deeply because I've been through most of what you've written here. I don't think you talked about all different aspects of suffering, but with this you've done a great job, in my opinion. I hope others will be just as affected as I was by this. This hurts and makes my heart swell at the same time because of the truthfulness of it. Thank you for writing this to help all of us who have suffered and who are still suffering. I've been a victim of this kind of... emotional pain. Having my friends tell me to stay strong, don't give up, we're here for you, God will never put you in a situation you cannot handle... I'm almost in tears because of this. Why? None of them has ever told me this line in this free verse: You’ve come this far.
This is all my heart's been wanting to hear for such a long time.
I don't know for how long I'm going to remember this, or how long I'm going to keep this in mind while my heart and my mind is still in a calm state... probably, that time won't come since this poem kind of calmed me down.
All I can say right now is thank you.
