B I O G R A P H Y

  Outgoing, kind, and independent. With two parents obsessed with their status and public image, how could they not adore such a capable child. Mari being their prized only child, they took every moment they could to show her off. It wasn't until her personality really started to blossom, that they started to question their opinion on their own daughter. She had all of these great qualities but one flaw just ruined it all.

  One day when she was 13, her parents took her to the most beautiful rose garden. Roses had always been her favorite so her parents brought her here for a special surprise. This was the first time she had seen roses before they were actually cut. Curious about this new sight, Mari reached right in and one of the stems and was quite surprised when she felt the prick of a thorn. Being a sheltered child, this sensation was something new to her. Without even really thinking about what she was doing, Mari stuck her hand right back in, long this time, and took it back out and watched the blood trickle down her palm. That was when her parents appeared and noticed what she was doing.

  Watching their young child grinning from ear to ear at the sight her own blood trickling down her hand, they were taken aback. How could such a kind child react like this. Immediately grabbing her arm and rushing her home, her parents tried to minimize their humiliation and decided they needed to nip this in the butt before it got too big. At first, they tried to beat it out of her, but she seemed to enjoy that even more than watching someone else's pain. They had no idea how to deal with this child who seemed to come alive with pain. The only other solution they could think of was hiding her away and keeping her out of the public eye as much as possible. It sounded good in theory, but that wasn't going to stop the whispers of the neighbors not when your prized child seems to disappear.

  House arrest was fine. Her parents pretended like everything was okay but it was clear they were lying. She was only allowed to go outside when absolutely necessary and everything else, from tutors to random items she decides she wants was brought to her. Despite all that, house life grew old fast and Mari wanted to add more spice to her life. So every night she would sneak out and go late night exploring. A few months into her now nightly routine is when she met Aster, the giant snake that lived in a nearby area. It didn't take long for the two to become inseparable and their pact began.

  Now with a giant snake as her companion, her parents gave up on the idea of ever trying to control their daughter's actions. Free to do as she pleased, Mavis worked on greatly on her bond with Aster and working on their skills together. By the time her 18th birthday rolled around and she was put on this list, she wasn't surprised that she was picked. There weren't many people who didn't know the young girl who had tamed the giant snake.
