Description As I stood under the waterfall
With a kiwi pineapple parasol..

Watercoloring again. This was inspired by Owl City's "The Yacht Club".
So, what do you guys think? Better or worse than Soleil? [link]
I really hope you guys say better cause Soleil was on much thinner paper not suited for watercolors at all and it looks terrible anyways
Oh, and just one thing before anyone comments.. I'd really appreciate critiques on this. If you want to compliment it, that's fine, but I want to know how I can improve, since I'm only just starting to learn to watercolor.

How cute. I love this song. Owl City is one of my favorite bands!

Beautiful! I think that both this and Soleil are so amazing there is no way to compare one to the other

I LOVE the parasol itself! What a creative way to design it! The colors are perfect, and the design evokes both fruits perfectly... I love her face and expression, and the way the parasol parts the blue water around her--even the little water line in the blue on the left side contributing perfectly to that illusion... For someone just starting to watercolor, you did a job on playing with the watercolor-paper texture that I am fascinated with, such that the texture appears most just where it should--in the dress. Did you use a dryer brush to color there?

This is beautiful!

Thank you so much! I feel kind of nervous posting my watercolors on here since I'm really not that good at them yet, and it's really nice getting such well thought-out feedback ^^
And I didn't really have any intention of having the paper texture appear in some parts more than others, but I'm glad you think it looks good XD
I feel really stupid asking this, but.. what's a dryer brush? ^^'' (I don't know what that even is... that's how much of a beginner I am XP)

Well, I am no watercolorist, either--I just meant using a brush with less water in it so the tops of the texture got hit more than the bottoms....I thought maybe that was a way it was done...

I think it is nice. You have some nice shading/hi-light on her dress and hair and the detailing on the umbrella is excellent. Her face looks a bit washed out as the figure is in a white block and both tones are pretty much the same.

If this is a first attempt at water colour it is a very fine job

Oh - and she's super cute!!!!

Thank you! Yeah, skin is really hard for me when I'm watercoloring... plus the scanner kind of killed it.
This is actually a second attempt XD I do watercolor in art class at school sometimes, but it's not really the same type of stuff, so I dunno if that really counts.
