A full five stars for this on all accounts, it has everything a pencil should have. The subject is wonderful with the expressions on the faces and the body language, it is easy to tell who the proud father is. I do wish the background was in there, but it is not needed to tell the story. The shading is amazing as always. I am a little confused on the picks for characters around Luke Cages child, but assume that part would be in the story itself. It makes me want to read the comic this would be for. Wolverines face is great something I never thought I would see wolverine doing even when he was written to fatherly with kitty pride and jubes.

Hello,
Well, I must say, the execution is completely flawless regarding technique, I am a close follower of your awesome work.
My only notes would be regarding (yes, guessed well) about the characters attitudes:

1) Wolvie without the protruding teeth and slightly more "Hey, lil tiger" instead of "Aww, coochie coochie".
2) Spider Woman seems to be looking somewhere else...even thought she is quite far from the scene, she would look better slightly lifting her gaze, attempting to get a glimpse...
3) Even thought Iron Man looks awesome with the bedazzled expression, hm, gotta get hardcore here...the mask does not have expressions...maybe a slightly buzzed Tony Stark, without the helmet, smiling with a reddened face and a martini?

I know people will kill me for being so straightforward and not flexible about the char's attitudes...but attitude is what makes them unique...well I think.

The rest is awesome and a charming scene, congrats Mike, keep up the incredible work...

It concerns me, just a smidge, that the Earth's Mightiest Heroes can look like complete idiots when a baby is involved. Especially Wolverine.

You asked for a critique and I really don't want to let you down here. Your polished work is always a great technique well executed.

This piece looks as though you were under the gun.

I don't see character sizes varying here. A layout like the one in the attached link ([link] ) tells a better story. And imagine you have the woman in front with the baby, but with her back off to the right and her a little more in the foreground to ad depth and little space.

I hope this helps.

OK, well here goes...
1. It's too... um...
2. It should be... um...
3. there's too much... uh...
4. You definitely should have... well... Um!

Oh Crap !!! there's NOTHING wrong here!

Sorry I couldn't help you, It's perfect in my opinion...

Goes to show that even the bravest and strongest of the superheroes whom can dodge and withstand punches and bullets, even have a soft spot for babies.

...especially Wolverine.

Nice work - Very Alex Ross-ish.
Composition is appealing ... the eyes are all drawn to the baby and the expressions are great.
Maybe I'm being picky and perhaps it's intentional, but everyone seems to be crowded to the right.
Also - If I wasn't as familiar with Alex Ross' work, I might have mistaken this for one of his.
I'll make it a point to buy this issue.

That's all I could think about when I saw this, LOL, I can't stop laughing.

Great pic. I think the only thing that could be added to improve it is some kind of background, even if its blurred. But that's just me.

That looks awesome!
I particulary love the expressions, and wolverine looks so cute/funny xD
There's only something that bugged me a little, and it is the woman in the top right corner of the drawing. It looks as if her eyes were missing. Or is it just me?

Great work Mike! I've come to realize I've been seeing your work for quite sometime, and always enjoyed it but didn't know the artist name...
This piece's particulary marvelous, to see Wolvie all daddy like and all the avengers like a big family, everyone with a great expression like with poud father Luke Cage or Jessica's sarcastic look, it's priceless!(but poor kid! She's gotta be scared with all those weird faces around!)As a side note, this scene reminds me of Justice League #1(By Kevin Maguire) cover-not the baby of curse, but the angle of the group shot-, wheter intentional or not it's also works as great homage to it.

PyroTwilight [2009-04-27 03:14:29 +0000 UTC]

I see a Skrull on the top right!!

Wolverine's face never fails to amuse me in this piece.

I'll also have to wonder who let Robert near the baby, that ain't smart.

But boy does Ironmann's face have a kind of "Huh?" look on him. XD
