How did you do it? Like obviously I understand the concept of light photos and long exposures, but how did you get it to do that without the person holding the light source also being exposed? Or did he make the arrow?

I actually accidently found out how to do this a while ago. You use flash at the beginning to take the "initial" shot during the long exposure, making the general picture you see here. If you look closely, you can kind of make out a face near the end of the arrow; that's my other friend who ran over there after the flash went off to draw out the arrow with a flashlight. My friend on the floor just had to stay still the whole time. The effect works out a lot better if there isn't any other light source at all, but in the place we were at there was actually a huge lightpost nearby which is why you can kind of make out my friend's face while she was drawing.

The person holding the light source would move quickly and wear dark clothes so they wouldn't be visible.
