Description Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner)... Now from what I can gather in New Moon, Jacob just seems to get used by Bella whilst Edward is away...

Anyway I'm not 100% happy with the way this has scanned but after scanning it about five times I'm settling for this one

Oh there is nothing wrong with my eyes. I was looking through your gallery and the sketches were so nicely done. I hope I can be as good as you.
BTW what pencil do you use, I only use a 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil.

... I use the same and also mainly use a Wolffs Carbon 6B which is really dark black and every shade you want it to be really

Thank you for your comments and the fave... I mainly use a Wolff's Carbon Royal Sovereign 6B Pencil, blended with cotton wool pads, and then small details are done with mechanical pencils.

ok, so i've been looking at your picture again because it's so amazing and i've been trying to figure out why yours looks so good. i have a couple questions. how did you do all of the highlights? (especially like in his hair and the tiny dots on his shirt.) and if you get a chance to look at mine again, do you think his skin should be darker? i really like how dark you made his skin here but i had been afraid of making it too dark, and now i'm thinking it's too light... so ya that's all i can think of at the moment

For most of my highlights, small dots, shine and light details I use an electric eraser which you can pretty much get a good range of thin and thick lines with and obviously any size dots... As for the darkness of the skin its hard to say really, I suppose it depends on the reference picture and if for example a cheek shadow is relative to the darkness of another part of his face.

I would suggest maybe having a play around with the contrast of your drawing in something like Windows Photo Gallery in the 'Fix' part, just make the whole thing darker and see if you like it any better... If you find that you do think it needs to be darker, then you can go back to your drawing and make it darker.

Thanks for the tips and there are such things as electric erasers?! Seriously art supplies are intense! I started drawing as a hobby and had no idea how much stuff was out there. I mean I use the cheapest sketchbooks I can find and Staples' mechanical pencils (basically a box of 12 for like $3) for crying out loud!

Anyway thanks again. I'm going to play around with the image on the computer and maybe I'll decide to make some changes to my drawing or maybe do a new one or something...

There is a whole range of electric erasers priced from as little as £3 all the way up to stupid prices like £80... But they are good though... I'm sure you could find one cheaper in the US

Have a play around, art is all about learning and improving through trial and error... You're definately on the right path though, your work is amazing!! Keep it up!
