Description Based ever so slightly off of Episode 4216 of Sesame Street... I thought it needed a sequel, and Grover needed a partner. Oh, and it is indeed Elmo. I think Elmo is absolutely wasted potential for being Grover's constant sidekick... seriously, the Monsters at the end of the Book? Elmo was gold in that one. Anything to show up Grover.

I agree with you on Elmo being a sidekick for Grover. Everyone complains about how Elmo "ruined" Sesame, my only complaint about him is that they just don't write him affectively and they make him try too hard to be cute and carry the whole darn show with that alone. If he were a Grover sidekick, then that would likely be a step in the right direction for him.

Elmo's a good character if he has someone to play off of. I even like him with Zoe. But when they shove him off into a little 15 minute condo where he does nothing but pretend to play with the viewer, there's no tension... nothing comedic or character building.

He's a good character, but it seems they really don't know how to use him for anything besides keeping the attention of a 3 year old.

Could've said it better myself. In my opinion,if Jim Henson and Jon Stone were still alive and working on the show, they'd both be able to keep the show relevant to today's kids AND 100% true to its roots.

Jim only had so much input as far as the show went. He was basically responsible for the Muppet stuff... early on he had it a lot more. Jon Stone had a lot more pull.

Personally, it's the complete surrender to various focus and pressure groups that stops the show from it's true potential. They actually TRIED to get rid of Elmo's World at one point, but 3 year olds who the show now focuses on got antsy that Elmo wasn't mugging the camera the whole time. And I blame the dramatic swing in children's programming since the 90's and the popularity of Barney the purple ratfink for that... all down a steady downward slide that left us with shite like Dora.

But this Ironmonster episode was pretty good.

You know,I really find it funny how we think alike. That's exactly what I believe to be the thorn in the Muppets' side(well, the gang on Sesame anyway). And hey,at least they DO still try, as proven with the Ironmonster bit.

The suit you gave Elmo here is genius.

I still haven't seen that episode. I've been wanting to see it since the Hightlight video. Whenever I get to to watching SS in the morning, I completle miss the street scences and it's just about over... >:T
