I'd rather prefer a ship with real development and characters who could help each other grow, not a stalker who watched him suffer through his entire childhood and didn't even once walk over and try to be his friend.

Amen. The whole basis for their relationship seems to be that Hinata has a crush on Naruto. Same with Sakura and Sasuke. You take away Naruto's crush on Sakura and they still interact, hang out, and support one another.
