now, this may seem stupid, but when I download it, and use it, the background is white. Is there a way to get rid of all the white, and make it transparent, with out having to select areas and erase?

Alrighty, click and hold the eraser icon, then scroll down and select the "Magic Eraser Tool". Now, with that tool, click on the white areas around the horse and the background should disappear leaving a transparent background underneath! Hope that helps.
