Description Painting I've just finished. It is a cover for a second book of Bogatyr trilogy (by J.Cervenak). Cover for the first book can be found here: [link]

The Picture depicts Baba Jaga, character from Russian Legends (she was even in one Hellboy story). In the legends she is old and ugly. In this book she looks a little different .

C&c very welcome

Yes - i think a interpretation without her flying around in a mortar with pestle or walking with her chickenfeet-house is absolutly acceptable
Great pic, and in considering of her illusion-magic this is also tradition-correct

Thank you!
The novel this for is dark and gritty action fantasy. So like this she is better suited for the world

I take it this was her BEFORE the fairytales she's in take place, since she's not old & grody.

She's not the pretty standart type of woman, what increases her beauty. The surrounding and the whole expression is breathtaking. The only thing I could possibly criticize is that it's no drawing.

Baba Jaga is not only from Russian mythology. I'm from Poland and I remember a lot of story with Baba Jaga

BTW - it's great pic! Usually Baba Jaga looks like british Greenwitch, but I think, your idea is better. No, it's adorable!

superb ! I would say everything is fine ! she is not cutelooking but thats more about personal taste xD would be strange to give her a cutelook right in a fight anyway. the details and flows of colours as well as composition are just dazzling me

great !

Ah, the old baby-eater. A wonderful piece of art. The colors are not extremely bold, but there is a depth of detail that gives those hues strength. The background has it's own elegant movement, the serpent being an interesting eye-catcher. And Baba herself has an amazing level of detailing and interest all over her body. A beautiful piece. *Applause*
