Okay so this is basically a scene from my Ninjago NextGen AU (or UA I guess?).

Honestly most of it is still pretty blurry, how and what should happen, so this is just the general idea, I'm still working on it in more detail!

Basically Cole has been crushing on Jay for a long time, and I mean since about S1-2, and it only got worse through the years. Here they're about 40 (Jay) and 43 (Cole) so about almost 25 years. However since for Jay it's always been just Nya and not really anyone else Cole knew it's pretty pointless, specially after S3 and then later S6. When eventually Jay and Nya finally got married he decided to pull himself together and move on for good because feeling miserable about Jay won't do him any good. So he did just that, he moved on from his feelings. They made an agreement with Seliel, she offered to be a surrogate mother so he can have a child, so Cole got a daughter. Despite all this, Cole and Jay and stayed really close as best friends through the years.

Meanwhile Jay had two kids with Nya, a girl, Jenny and a boy, Raul and honestly their relationship never was smooth to begin with. After their marriage it was okay, even great most of the time, then with the years specially after the birth of their first kid, Jenny, it started to getting more tense and they had more fights as time went on. In the end despite the hard time they were having they decided to have another kid in hopes to save their marriage however it obviously didn't really work.

Anyway long story short as Jay and Nya "drifted" apart, Jay and Cole grew closer than ever because Cole was the one Jay confided in with basically everything and they spent a lot more time together one-on-one too. Eventually it became pretty awkward when Jay realised he also has more feelings for Cole than just friendship which was obvious to honestly almost everyone including Nya. Jay and Nya were already pretty much drifted apart, they both felt there was no reason to stay together, it wouldn't have done the kids well either. Nya brought it up that they should file for divorce, Jay was still more in denial so they only ended up fighting more about it. In the end they divorced and Jay was pretty much in pieces, however mostly living alone for sometime made him realise and face his feelings towards Cole, so about a few weeks after the divorce in one of his emotionally messier moments he went to Cole house in the middle of the night to talk to him. At first they ended up fighting because honestly Cole was pretty pissed about a number of things, but also mostly it's kind of a little too late and he's already moved on. Except he really haven't but that didn't keep him from living his own life. In the end though they come to an understanding to give whatever they could be a shot and start taking baby-steps.

Well that turned out a looot longer than I intended and a lot messier too... I may rewrite it I'm super tired right now. The picture itself turned out a lot better than I hoped like holy shit I almost didn't do a background but in the end even that turned out better than I thought it would! I also tried for a new kind of shading? I guess? Becuase I really like cell shading but also a more painty looking shading too so I'm trying to make some kind of hybrid between them, I guess it's not bad for a first step. Also my first time ever drawing tears too, those turned out pretty good too, so hell yeah!

Also I'm going to tag in this just because I can, and also as a special thanks, I honestly don't think I would have properly finished it like this if not for her so enjoy your notification :"DD
