Look, look how short I made them, everybuddy. I guess it's not that big a deal, they were never that tall to begin with, right?
There just never is enough times when these two are drawn together, I wonder why? But here they be again~!
Even if Elec's an Assist in the Smash Program, Rock would still wanna occasionally visit his big-lil'brother X, no? They need some quality time as well, so why not try drawing them together-- and I tried to make it a little different by drawing X with his Smash-details.
Do they look alright to you? I have been wondering if I should try applying those to him from now on, but I'm not sure. ( ' ,');
Some parts look neat, but then the boots are always a pain to detail since they're bigger than Mega's. Maybe just the body-details?

It wasn't the neatest helmetless-full-body due to me worrying over size comparisons, but I'm most happy with Rock's baby-self. I just love playing with his child-like appearance, he is just so darling~! Though because of my issue, he's much shorter than normal, eheh~
I really tried my best to make this up on the first try, but no bud's perfect.
Anywho, more Mega-n-X, yeah? Sometimes they're both just so sweet that I fight myself over who I wanna draw today.

From how I depict things, Assist Trophies are set alongside the Fighters, so X (who is a Final Smash Support) is not immediately around his friend.
He'd have to go over the Mansion and visit him every so often, if they want to hang out...!

Sadly, it's implied that Rock is most likely not active anymore the time X is reactivated by Dr. Cain. So at least we as fans can create these possible scenarios and enjoy them just as well!

Because they're not the same person, at all. They just share a similar name.
Dr.Light probably designed and made X as a separate entity because he wanted to advance his technology and whatnot. As for Rock, that's his son with his own characteristics and being, why would he want to replace/modify all that? He may have learned from seeing his first creation, Blues, run away for that same reason that it shouldn't be done.
Also, I don't know if Rock's little body and functions would handle all those new changes.
While this is all just fan-guessing, I'm pretty sure Dr. Light had intended X to be different from Rock anyway.
And it's more than just changing a few internal parts to make a different bot, X had to go through diagnostics, no?
There's just too much complication to go through regarding this, I don't think it's necessary.
Oh, and just making another Rock? That's kinda odd, then the new IC in the other Rock wouldn't be Rock's, would it? Since the real one is in that hypothetical X you mentioned, so it wouldn't be the same overall. ( ' ~');

Indeed, I was just surprised they remembered the others who were not X-- Hub especially, he's my fave, despite that I love each and every one of them. Their models are just lovely, and we gotta thank the Smash developers for making them.
And of course! There just isn't enough huggy-art of these two.
I'll leave all the cool-fighting business to someone who does it better.

I just choose to draw him (and much other Mega Man characters for that matter) helmetless because it makes it easier for me to draw them, also I just can't get Mega's helmet-shape right for a long period of time. So his hair is always a fun thing to stroke-n-doodle.

On the subject of Rock's child-like aspects, I think that's one of the reasons why I love the Archie comics so much. While they do follow the games and show Rock as being strong and brave, they also do great side-stories and take time to focus on the lighter and more childish sides of Rock, which I don't think the games did a lot to show. And the same goes for all the characters; we get to see other sides of their personalities that we didn't see a lot of in-game.

Yes indeed. So many fanarts and such can make any character so cool, badass, or what have you-- which is totally fine by me!
But also, we are allowed to open up on other parts of a character's traits such as Rock and his designation as a robot child. Sometimes I think people forget that along with his thus child-like mindset, and so we never really look into it.
The games themselves, I don't believe, focus so much on the story and development since they're meant to target young kids who don't tend to look at that stuff too deeply. So it's really up to us fans to delve into that ourselves.
Again, it really depends the interpretation on how we reveal those traits that Rock has-- though I do wish we could look into that kinder side of him as much as that cool-bot that I'm sure most people grew up to see.
So, with that, I really enjoy working with the child-like Rock. Plus, he just acts so darn cute~!

Have never played a MegaMan game, and I only knew of the franchise name before Smash 4 came around - but he's just utterly adorable! 
Speaking of Mario, I often find myself with fanons that I thought were common, but weren't. Like the aforementioned Mario, who I see as hotblooded, uber happy-go-lucky, hammy and cocky. There's also my headcanon of Ness, in which he's a snarky prodigy with boundless curiosity and a quip for everything. Why is it that everyone seems to have to make characters psychotically dumb, one-sided, or batman-level brooding all the time? WHY?!
I heard about the Archie comics, I was surprised that they actually made him a kid. (though I don't imagine him with issues - we need SOME innocent kid smashers in Free-4-All!) I'm used to seeing American media trying to make everything "hardcore" *cough*RubySpears*cough*, and this coming out of ARCHIE, after the edgy-drowning they are apparently doing with Sonic. Maybe Americans CAN get the cheeriness of some stuff!

Well, nowadays, people love dark, edgy, tormented souls of people.
And really, I don't mean to say making "serious" Mega fanarts is bad, that's totally fine! But as for depicting him in-speech, it's better to remember he's got the A.I. and thus a mindset of a 10-yr-old boy (unless, someone says it's AU or OOC otherwise), so he should act as such. Not to mention, you can look at his (limited) speech in gameplays where he's generally innocent, pacifistic, and polite.
Not really some grumpy drunk-- that's a long story from some RP I was in one day.
Of course, fandoms have fans that can depict the same person various ways, and that alone is intriguing to me-- regardless if I agree with the depiction or not. That being said, I don't like to be "pushed" into working into others' depictions, otherwise we'd all be the same and thus the fanfics will be all mundane and boring all together.
(Though, uh~ That may just be me rambling from a few other moments I've encountered myself. My bad for that...!

It's not like I hate "dark" characters. I just like it handled with some class and not make it all emo. I do plan to have ALOT of dark characters in Subspace Emmisarry and Free-4-All, and possibly even the Pokemon one I want to do. But it's just that most of the time, I try to make it so that the characters at least try to hide it behind a smile or "nothing's wrong", keeping it bottled inside - though most of the time they end up breaking, or even going temporarily crazy. And because I'm a hardened idealist, the stuff I come up with is PUMPED TO THE BRIM with optimistic characters. 
It's just that so many Smashers are so selfless, so it makes me want to bang my head on the wall when they start whining about themselves. Ie, I once found a fic where Link was thinking that because he saved his kingdom, he deserves better, and in one incident, thought of attacking Ike for stealing Zelda (another cliche that annoys me - everyone fought hard and went through alot of horror and crud, AND YOU CHOOSE THEM TO ANGST ABOUT A BREAKUP!?) Sorry, that wasn't meant for you.

Y'know, this is what I want to do with Ness... Remember I mentioned how he's a quirky character? Well... For some reason no one seems to remember that Gigyas was probably, kinda sorta 100x scarier in-universe. Oh, and his best bro (who he had been trusting the whole time, even as he was becoming obviously evil) fights him and berates him and treats him like trash(well, more than he did thought the game anyway) Ouch.

I know they're still brothers (and Rock's especially the older), but I really like how you just conveyed how just different they are and look despite being based on same "core of identity".
