Do you guys want me to write this sort of stuff or not? XD Tellz meeee!

This is for of her OC, Mergezett Sziv, as my part of our art trade!!!

I must say - I LOVE THIS
I wanted to do the art trade 100% digital (that INCLUDES the sketch, which I often do with pencil).
I also wanted to do some fire, and work on my hair >_<
The highlights are very subtle, I know I should have done more, but I just wanted to upload this!
Lazy gradient background XD

Im getting better with digital art. Im happy
Any CONSTRUCTIVE critiques so I can improve? If you gonna critique, give me CONSTRUCTIVVVEEE! I crave it!

Oh, and Im gonna update my commissions. Ill be doing stuff like this, cause they are fun, for about 30-50 points, havent decided (and YES, my prices have gone up, deal with it)

The outline is very different from what I see most of the time. I like the style that you used thought. The way that the color goes out of the lines, rather then stays in, I really, really like. The detail for the hair is perfect, and the fire-like tail is amazing! The details in the eyes look almost real. The blue is very bright, I would have liked it better if it was darker, but the way it is is just fine. The rest of the colors are great! The shading is perfect, so are the earrings - witch are a very different style. Keep up all of your amazing work, and maybe you'll get better.

Firstly, I want to say what a beautiful piece ot art! It certainly caught my attention e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

I really love the vibrant but realistic shades of blue you used and how it really compliments the beautiful blue eye.

Saying this, I believe there are a few things that could be improved (like every other artwork) and I hope you find this critique constructive and helpful.

Lets start on the light source, shall we? The main light source I see here is the flames on the tail. Now, I'm DEFINATLY no expert on lighting myself and I have alot to learn, but I do know that light radiades particular colours. So the flames that you have drawn are blue, therefore the light that radiates on the subject will be blue. Here is a quick example:
[link]

Another property of light is that it casts shadows. I found a tutorial on DA that helped me immensly, and hopefully it will help you too e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> --> [link] With this in mind, I applied the use of gradient:
[link]

The fire itself could use a little bit of touching up too. For the best possible result, try looking up references on the internet, and observe the way the flames twist and turn. This is a really helpful way of applying knowlege into a fantasy type piece. It creates a sense of realism, and can also be done to different aspects of a painting (e.g. rocks, grass ect.) Its important to turn to nature for inspiration!

Anatomy is something that every artist aspires to get right, and it takes years of study and dedication. Not many people have grasped the technique, and I'm still a begginer xD Don't worry too much about it, as long as it looks believable and natural! Though the tail seems to be a little bit too flexible, so maybe refer to this tutorial for future reference -->[link]

All in all, an amazing and visually astounding piece of artwork! Your improving so fast, I can barely keep up with you xD

I like the fire and the hair, but yeah, I think the lighting should be harsher since the fire if so close.
By the way, thanks for the extra points, they were NOT necessary.

I see nothing wrong with the anatomy, that is great.
The shading could be stronger, don't be scared to really darken and lighten areas and blend them in. And, you've started doing this, adding in coloured highlights from the flame helps give the idea of light sources. It is easier to work with just one light source but I assume there is multiple here due to shading. Always think 'would the light hit this part and how'. Then the shading will work.
The fire looks a little like hair. Try less smudging, put in faint lines around the edge. Fire has a defined line as well as being faint in places. Try looking at pictures to get what I mean. It's hard to explain. Play with opacity in that area. And smoke. Fire gives off smoke and is fun to draw.
Also check you erase outside the lines fully so it looks more polished.
But like I said, I see nothing wrong with anatomy and the colours themselves. And I can't stop staring at that eye.
Long comment is long.

Don't be scared of shading, it actually very hard to over shade. It may look a little dusky but it can add to the feel of a picture.
Looking at pictures helps. So does burning things. >D
But glad I could help.
