Description And yet more sketches of TLD stuff. I apologize for posting only these crappy drawings! More finished stuff will follow, I'm just storing these so I don't misplace them somewhere.

"Wicker Helmet"..... seems so useless for all purposes cept for keeping the sun off your head

You'd be surprised. If you cover wicker in raw hide, you get a quite solid protection material. Wicker makes it flexible and gives it volume, rawhide makes it solid and hard to penetrate. A wicker helmet would have a wicker frame, some padding underneath and leather/rawhide as coating. It would be bulky and friggin' ugly, but it might easily save your life.
(that's why wicker shields used to be quite common in warrior cultures. Sure, mostly among poor warriors. But hey, you use what you have. )

Would it really have the power to stop a long bows arrow or something like that?

An arrow from longbow? I think people wearing wicker helmets never really faced longbows. Probably not, longbow piercing arrows (bodkins) were made to dent even plate armor.

But a cut with a knife, a blow with a club, maybe even a sword hack or a spear thrust if you're lucky. Oh and arrows from smaller bows probably too.

Hey, the easiest way to know is to try it (of course, there will be some baskets, wool and rawhide to be...obtained. And harmed later.)

Yea, I guess I wasn't really considering that the longbow was introduced by the welsh at probably a different date and area.... still I wouldn't mind trying out something like this (As long as I wasn't wearing the helmet)

But I can definitely see how it could stop a more minor attack such as the ones you mentioned

I very much enjoy these "crappy drawings" but mainly because of their designs and things....The helmet is very....cool. (I hate that word, but i couldn't think of a good adjective)

I dont get it when you say "these crappy drawings". These designs/sketches are very interesting! That dwarven armour looks fantastic; a heavily armoured soldier "armed to the teeth". I like how it looks there are combination of leather, scale- and ringmail beside steelplates.

The helm looks very fitting, very nice battlemask in addition. You could say dwarven gear looks quite angular.

Someday I would like to see a completed collection of your designs, with every faction separated. You pay so much attention to them they look very authentic.

Well, they are just crappy doodles I draw at school when I'm bored or during breaks. They take 5-20 minutes each and their only purpose is to store ideas I have. Then later I may choose some of those ideas and paint something better and nicer.

So, as drawings, they're nothing much and I wouldn't put them in my portfolio. The ideas and designs, sure, they're mine and I like them.
So for that value I upload them.

Anyway, this dwarf is a bit of an expansion of the old painting I did of a swordsman, a hobbit warden and an "iron head". ("Dwarven units" I think it's called here)

I've just realized the helmet should probably be slightly bigger to fith the dwarven proportions better. Well, it's not that important.

We'll be doing 3D models for dwarves soon (hopefully) so I wanted to draw some reference pictures for the modelers.

And yeah, I hope I might put together a pdf with all my TLD materials + commentary about the designs, references and ideas when we release the mod. (which might be this year, or next spring).

Very nice work mate. They may 'only' take 5-20 minutes, but they're far better than anything I could do in an hour

You say that you wouldn't consider puuting this in your portfolio, but I've seen far worse from a professional artist in publications (try Googling John Blanche ).
