Description
Dragon of Light/Day, 8x10 watercolorInspired by Gothic cathedrals and 15th century Flemish paintings of Rogier Van der Weyden. Two statues on the left and right are based on the Ecclesia and Synagoga at Strasburg Cathedral. Greenman and sun should be self explanatory.

I suppose there's only so many dragon lying down poses around. I don't draw many dragons.

Here's an interesting concidence for ya!:
There's a book who's title I've forgotten where dragons have a Victorian style culture. Virgin females are a shining gold until they are flushed (sexually excited) by a young male, in which case they blush pink and remain that color permanently. The cover of the book has a similar background to the one you placed your golden dragon upon with the extravagant archway (and I believe a red dragon standing in the center, though his feet are placed on the floor and not the ledge). Deja vu, eh?
You did a marvelous job with the stone and the dragon looks wonderfully ornate. I'd suggest flaring the back wing forward a little more for better balance in your composition, but it's not exceptionally needed. The little golden dragon looks so feminine and serene.

Interesting! Actually I based the background on old medieval/early renaissance paintngs by Rogier Van der weyden and Jan Van Eyck if you want to look those up

I really like the background as well, really does add to the feeling of the age. I do have one little quirk though...the dragon's back legs look a tad to small.
