Description My entry for the Year of Luigi Exhibition Event held on Miiverse's Art Academy Community!

I'm very glad to see Nintendo do these kind of things to foster a sense of friendly competition within Miiverse.
I miss the Nsider days and the monthly contests we used to have.
I'm not quite sure how they will announce the winners, or if there is even a prize, however Nintendo claims royalty-free rights to publish (online and offline) any arts submitted to the event.

I do hope I am a winner (prize or not) because "Artwork published by Nintendo" wouldn't look bad at all in my portfolio!

Inspired by The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker stained glass artworks!

This number 2 is number one in many books.

Usually Luigi is player two but, I think of him as number one.

Aghhhhhh... you had to mention the Nintendo Power art contests... ;_;  Now I really wish I had a Wii U and Art Academy.  ;_;  (Well I guess I could do the same with the 3DS version, but I'd really rather have the 'free Flipnote Studio 3D' that they said we'd get in August :/  )

Hope it goes well!  Looks pretty neat overall, and I like the stained-glass-Luigi idea in general, seems like he kinda deserves 'his own window' in Peach's castle maybe..

Lol
His own window
Thanks, dude.
I think you're able to post art from the 3DS version to miiverse, as well.
I don't own that version.

Wah, the 3DS version is *expensive*.  The two DSi versions were 8 bucks each, but the 3DS version is 30 dollars to START, with almost 7 or 10 $2.00 DLC packs.  It does look nice, but so far my drawing-experience on the 3DS with the old Swapnote wasn't very great... SAI cost me 60 bucks a couple years ago, but it's by and large a lot more useful for me.  That's too bad, I was really hoping for a decently cheap art program on 3DS(although I think Colors 3D is a ton cheaper, but it doesn't have a Miiverse community... it just has the website, which might not be as populated now).

Wow. That almost seems like a ripoff.
The WiiU version is only 4 bucks. No DLC available though. And no lessons either it's just 12 photos to use for reference, 3 different canvas styles (in multiple colors) and then pastels, pencils and charcoal. Erasers.
That's it...
Sorry to hear that.

I think it's from before retail games were on eShop, meaning it cost 30 bucks at retail, and adding DLC to it was seemingly unique I guess, but now that it's also become a retail game the digital version is the same price.  Sucks, but fine if they want it that way I guess.  I can't imagine they don't realize the less-significant 3DS version costs more than the superior Wii U version... I guess they must be sitting there watching a sales-curve, determining when the public will drop off, meaning they'll either drop the price or release a new version.  Ah well...

There is apparently a better version in the works for the wiiU... I might have to pick that up

Yep, I definitely miss those contests too...and always will.  I was much more active back then when it came to monthly art updates that were actually fleshed out.

In any case it's awesome to see you complete this at long last, and yet you finished it so fast I can't believe how well the overall quality turned out like.  You definitely have a knack and eye for detail when it comes to adding small environmental details and in this case...really emulating the stain glass effect for the window.  Definitely awesome.

Best of luck dude, hope you get recognized somehow.

Thanks, man!
I just realized that I signed it with a '13... lmao
Other than that, I am pretty stoked with this!
This was a nice change of pace from the previous 2 pieces I made with Art Academy.
Much simpler approach, more stylized, less details but still very iconic and recognizable.
I'm glad the stained glass look is easily recognizable! I was concerned for a while there lol

I'm looking forward to seeing how this (and future) events pan out.

Haha, that can happen. Used to happen to me a lot when I would sign thank-you cards the day after New Year's.   Luckily that didn't happen to me this year.

Definitely seems challenging to me, but you pulled it off with seeming ease it's rather hard not to envy your progress you've made with the application.

Awesome to hear dude! No problem at all.
