You know hun, the thing i do is watch. I watch alloot of other ppls work here on DA and i watch allot of tutorials on youtube thats where my 'skills' come from haha portaits are hard i tried it in the past but it just didn't work out and so i stopped drawing. Now just reacently just over a year ago i started drawing again but in a new way i found anime/manga and fell in love with it. I think for me this new way of drawing and learing new styles helped me to look and watch even better to photo's and stuff so thats the reason i tried the portrait again. So it might help for you to watch several differnt tutorials and find and combine the technique for you. Oh and i like to draw on paper with some structure on it... Plain flat paper just wont work for me lol. Anyways thanks again!!

YouTube is just great lol. I have been using it for techniques on working with color pencils. After I do some portraits I been commissioned for I plan to practice with it. Hubby bought me a nice set at Michaels. He is awesome. Super supportive. Went in for my pencils and came home with an art desk as well lol. I love browsing on here and looking at other peoples work. Studying the lines, techniques, and so forth. Very inspiring! I tried doing people as well years ago and gave up too lol. But, I gave it another go and am quite proud on how it's going along. My 12 year old has picked up drawing the anime and she has really flourished from it. Drawing has always run in the family along with other talents. It's been fun watching our work progress along. I show her some art work on here but not all since some is not suitable for her, and she finds it inspiring as well.
Sorry I carried on here lol. You are quite welcome though. Will keep an eye out for more of your work as well. I enjoy checking it out and studying yours as well.
