The time ticked by, every minute felt like an hour, Phil was waiting impatiently at the train station, pacing up and down the station platform.
It was his first time meeting his long-distance boy friend, Dan, and after reassuring himself that everything was going to be OK, he was still worried.
He really didn't want to mess this up. He liked Dan. Actually, correct that, he really liked Dan.

As he heard the woman over the tannoy system announce that the train from Reading was pulling into the station, Phil’s heart raced. An uncontrollable wave of excitement washed over him.
His nerves were still there, but the excitement overpowered them.
He saw the train coming along towards the station, and stopped pacing, anxiously waiting for it to stop and for him to finally meet Dan in person.

Once the train had stopped and the doors had opened out came a big group of people, but out of all of them Phil instantly noticed Dan.
“Dan!” He called out, catching the boy’s attention. Dan’s face lit up, and he ran over to Phil and into his embrace. Dan buried his face in Phil’s neck, his arms tightening around him.
“I can’t believe I've finally met you.” Dan said, smiling into the crook of Phil’s neck.
“Me neither. Come on, we can cuddle at my house.”

“Happy anniversary, babe!” Phil opened his eyes to see his beautiful boy friend hovered over him, Dan smiled and leaned down, kissing him sweetly on the lips.
“You too, love,” Phil replied, pressing his lips against Dan’s again.
Dan laid back down beside him, and cuddled up into Phil’s side, nuzzling his head into Phil’s arm.
“What are our plans for today then?” Phil asked, moving his head to rest against Dan’s.
“Well, I was thinking we could spend the day watching movies and tonight I have reservations at that new restaurant down the road.” Dan answered, smiling.
“What about breakfast?”
“I've got something in the kitchen for you, love.”

After filling up on waffles and a day full of movies, they were getting ready for their meal. Both dressed smartly in dress shirts and jeans, they left their apartment, fingers entwined.
Once they’d arrived, they sat at their table, still holding hands which were placed on the table. The waiter handed them their menus, and they reluctantly released each other’s hands, ordered their drinks and re-linked their fingers.

Dan smiled at Phil, creating butterflies in his stomach as he did. Phil was beautiful to Dan, with his beautiful blue eyes that you could go swimming in. Even though it was a common description of them, it sure was true.
Boy, he wanted to know when he would be over all the butterflies, but he knew that they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. Despite the fact they had been together for so long. Dan thought they would be long gone by now, but they still made their little appearances.

“Hey, Phil, remember the first time we met?” Dan asked, looking over the food menu at Phil.
“Remember? How could I forget?” Phil answered, smiling at Dan whilst placing his menu down.
“That was a great day wasn't it?”
“Yeah, it was. Phil, do you remember when you met my parents?”
“I do. It was when I told you that I loved you for the first time.”
They were interrupted briefly when the waiter came over to take their order, returning back to their conversation when he had gone.
“And on the way home we sang along to Muse at the top of our lungs.”
“What’s all this about, anyway?”
“You’ll see.” Dan winked at Phil, who tilted his head.
“What do you mean?”
“I just said, you’ll see.”

They finished their meal, and headed out, Dan leading Phil by the hand.
Once they got back to the apartment, Dan told Phil to wait outside the living room and to not enter until he said. Phil nodded and waited patiently.

Dan finally called him in, and Phil walked into the candle-lit living room.
He gasped at the sight, too distracted by the candles to notice his boyfriend down on one knee in front of him, fumbling around in his pocket for a box.
“Phil Lester, not a day goes by that I’m not into you. I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Phil, will you make me the happiest man in the world by marrying me?” Dan opened the little velvet box to reveal a small beautiful ring.

“Yes, I will!” Phil replied, tears beginning to fall.
Dan grinned and jumped up, putting the ring on Phil’s finger, tears falling down his face. Phil lifted his thumb to wipe them away, and pulled Dan in for a kiss.
“I love you, Dan Howell.”
“I love you more, Phil Lester.”
