It was the first time I used my coloured Chinese ink, before this I've only used black Japanese ink. It was a bit of a try-out, but I think it turned out well enough.
About the calligraphy style and the supplies
The text is hiragana in Soushotai style: [link]
I used the [link] (High School Calligraphy II) book as reference for the hiragana.

About the text
In the comments on the progress photos, I asked "What do you think the text says?"
I got the following answers:
"The image makes me think of either sernity/reflection or finding yourself possibly..."
"But the picture reminds me of death (departure, change), because of the position of the figure and the winter setting. Another association is Yuki Onna. Overally, the picture gives off the vibes of peaceful departure."
"My guess for the text is something wise and poetic, like: you can always try to fly to the sun, but the sun will never fly to you."
The story I thought up for this picture, was that the other bird-people [up in the air] are encouraging the girl [on the ground] to fly upwards. But she has trouble with it because her wings are so small in comparison to what they should be normally (the text says "When [in what time-frame] did I become so weak?"). As for the rest of the story, all ideas for the text above do fit, I think.

You shouldn't have put blue lines around the people in the sky. That way they look closer, even if they should be far away. You should have put a lighter coloured line around it.
The calligraphy is nice!!!
It's fun you only have blue colours, but the scan makes it look purple? More variance in the colours might have made it clearer. Also: Far away things have lighter colour than closeby things, so you should have switched the dark and lighter colours.

Ah, good idea about the lines around the people in the sky XD
Those were all the blue colours I had XD
But the area behind the darker blue trees are mountains, which were lighter (I looked at a photo, but since that one was in colour and not in blue-tones, that might have made a difference). But I didn't really want to make the grass she's standing on very dark. It wasn't the darkest part on the photo I looked at either, but I'll see what I'll do next time.
It doesn't look that purple on my monitor, but I can adjust the colours for printing if necessary. I'll play around with that later.
