I arrived at the Nier party super late (after playing Automata and loving it) but I just recently finished the first ending. Still have to get to the others and which I'm guessing will make me EVEN MORE sad. ;v;

YEAH me too! I'd only vaguely heard of Nier and so pretty much all I knew beforehand was that the battle system was kind of clunky so since the visuals weren't my usual type (almost all my fav games are bright/cartoony ;;; ) I never thought to pick it up. But then I got Automata because I'm weak to cute robots and HOLY HECK I wish I had gotten into it sooner. The story-telling is pretty much my ideal. And same with the characters, I'm so attached to everyone. ;___;

It wasn't even too bad gameplay-wise, like there are definitely some parts that were hard because of camera angle and stuff, but I managed to do okay. At first I thought I wasn't going to be able to beat it since I'd heard the gameplay was tedious, and I'm ALREADY terrible at video games, but I think people exaggerated. xP
And SAME I think I'm probably going to go back and start Automata from the beginning just so I can see all the references and actually understand them now. Especially everything with Emil. Even knowing nothing about him before Automata I loved him so now his quest is probably going to make me cry. ;___;

His quest is so heartbreaking. I wanna replay it but I don't wanna fight him twice again 😂 I grinded so hard for this little bean. And yeah, the gameplay was a little hard. I disliked that Weiss would slow you don't and wouldn't allow you to attack, which took away from some of the fun. But that's okay! Regardless it was a super addictive game to play, even if it was wonky. The story was SO worth it. No doubt in my mind at ALLL.

UGH yeah fighting him was super hard. I went through the entire game not using any of the stat increase items until that point and then used my entire stockpile at that point. I was just like... please Emil I love you but you are killing me. orz Maybe I'll go through everything EXCEPT that last fight. x'D
Yeah that and occasional camera getting stuck were really the only things that bothered me and I've dealt with WAY worse for the sake of good story. (Which Nier ABSOLUTELY was) So I don't really know why I heard so much bad about the gameplay? But I'm also the type of person who cares least about gameplay in comparison to story/characters/aesthetic so I guess it's pretty hard for me to drop something just for gameplay. BUT YEAH I thought it was really fun to play minus a few frustrating parts. (And my usual being terrible at video games that aren't turn-based ahaha)

I totally agreeee >< I loved the story. But thing is, I care most about the gameplay. I'm a very precise person and I always want to make sure that it works best for me. And Emil is the best bean lol. He's so cute >v< but when he cries man... oh damn is it the end for my feelings ;;;;

I play a lot of more story heavy games and visual novels, so unless it's SUPER badly made I'm not picky about actual gameplay if the characters are good. Of course it's always a bonus if it's got both a good story and is really fun to play.
YEAH I already loved him in Automata so having him as a major character I ended up loving him EVEN MORE what a good kid. ;u; Of course it was also true suffering knowing ahead of time that SOMETHING terrible was going to have to happen to him. orz

I knowwww I totally agree. What a sad boyo! I wish it could've been different but it made him what he is now. A lot of younger characters don't ever have a tragic backstory, so it contradicts everything about them. But Emil is much different <3 he's amazing lol.

Well think about it. They were replicants and the shadow nier was the original lol. I wouldn't call it dirty, it's just that we got too attached to our replicant than the original lmao.

Dont you remember Kainé struggling with her shade and decided to walk away? Then when Nier wanted to help her, Yona just says ( HEY LOOK! is it not a beautiful sunset? ) So that she can get all of his attention?
I know this idea of Yona be extremely selfish may be a little bit stretch out but wen we look at all of the character in Drakengard/Nier series... it would not surprise me that it would be the case.

Yeah! but it is japanese only... but there are some peoples who did a translation of it but we can't be 100% sure that they did a good job . ___ .
And it is not a manga or comic! It's a art book with some recapt of the lor of nier, and it explain what happened after the game. Well... this is what i have heard.
