Description Contest entry # Dos for SStwins 's competition!!!!
~OC Art Contest! Over $40 in prizes!!~Hi guys!!
I’m running another contest!! This time, though, there will be real money prizes (omg!). And I’ll be running this along with my sister sstwinz!

This is going to be a very open ended ‘Draw Our OCs’ Contest. Essentially, we have six characters that you can choose from! You could draw them individually, draw some of them together, or draw all of them together! It’s entirely up to you what you want to do. Any art form is accepted, feel free to be as creative as you'd like! You can submit as many entries as you'd like, but if all you draw is one picture of one character, that's perfectly fine!!
Without further ado, here are the characters! Right click on an image and click 'open in new tab' to see the image in its full size!
Name: Pepper Callisto
Personality: Pepper is the stereotypical "tough guy" who acts very unfeeling and cold around people he doesn't know very w
Save ur crocodile tears!!

I appreciated her two faced nature but I feel she is also the type of person to cry A LOT. Maybe to manipulate people or maybe because she's actually awful and knows it.. idk

I just... love this girl haha

I would go on and on about what I'm not too proud of in this but I'm tryin to win guys!!! Tuck that self doubt away, boy

I am very interested in drawing girls crying now....

Hello, I'm commenting for .

I think this is a very interesting picture. At first glance, it's easy to see nothing but a pretty girl crying. But looking a little longer at it, I think I can see some hints of her deceptive nature. For example, I feel that the way she's lowering her eyelids and looking upwards looks like a very cunning way of making people feel pity and want to comfort her in any way possible. I also think that the way she's hiding her face behind her hands seems a bit like she's hiding her true emotions and motivations as well. Another thing I noticed, which further confirms this impression, is that even though she's crying, she still looks very pretty and cute doing it, so it doesn't really look like she's crying from pain or sorrow. All in all, if you wanted to depict her as manipulative and two-faced, I think you suceeded!
Her face is very lovely. I think the eyes are gorgeous, you did an excellent job with the eyeleashes there. The lips are very pretty as well! While the nose looks good too, I think it should be a bit lower on her face, because the space between upper lip and nose tip seems too large. Her hands are very expressive and do a good job of enhancing the overall body language. But I think they are too big, they look like they're the size of her face.
The colors are lovely, I especially like how her light blue eyes are contrasting the dark, reddish hue of her hair. I have the feeling that the shadows on her skin are a bit too strong. But otherwise, I like how they convey and accentuate details like her cheekbones or knuckles. It's also nice to see how much detail you put into her hair and eyebrows. Her hairpin is a nice, funny addition that isn't obvious on first glance.

All in all, a lovely and interesting piece. Good job!

Hi, I found this from project comment

The first thing I noticed is just how much raw emotion this expresses: from the technique to the expression, it's perfect. I knew what the picture was before I read your description
I really like the way you used the red and white in high contrast to create the highlights and pigment in the skin, and the hir is also quite effective, however the dramatic change in the way you outlined the hair with much thicker line seems a little mismatched, what effect were you going for here? I think the shading around the face, done almost entirely with the shades of ink is much more effective than the rough hatching, at least for this particular picture, while both re great I think it might have worked a little better to stick with one shding/inking style.

The background is quite effective, the colour choice goes nicely with the portrait, without distracting from the subject.

Keep drawing, this is beautiful, like all your art is. Have a merry christmas too.

I think before I heavily outlined her hair, I was thinking that it didn't stand out enough
but I do see what you mean

thank you, I never know what to pick for the background
ah thank you! You too, Merry CHRISTMAS!!

Speaking from and I will give you constructive feedback, so here I go:

The watercolor painting is really good and well done. You clearly know your shadows well and all that. The art is detailed too. Watercolor I find to be difficult to work with and make definite shapes, so the pen helps in defining those needed features on her face.

Also, you showed her two faced nature well via the eyes. The eyes did not look melancholic enough and there's a slight kind of slyness added to it that makes me think this girl is just faking crocodile tears.

However, the highlights... I'm a little mixed about that along with some assortment of things.

There's... frankly, not a whole of lot of highlights in this. Though going by how it looks, I got a feeling she's probably inside or you probably have no regards towards where the light is shining. The hair almost has no highlights at all. Both shadows and light give the picture the depth that it needs, just keep this in mind.

Why does the background leak into some parts of her fingers? It's just... a little off-putting to me. That or it could be intentional, I do not know. Sometimes mixing in background with the forefront picture isn't really a good idea since the forefront picture is the focal point of the whole art piece. For now, I can forgive it since the rest of the figure isn't touched so much by the background. Again, just some little nitpick you can keep in mind of or not.

Overall, I'd give it a... 7.5/10. Keep on working at it and improving your style in this way, because it's interesting and it looks neat. Thanks for showing this to us.

yeah I'm booty at highlighting, there are like no highlights in this at all

it was an accident man :v
I was trying to avoid it at first but I didn't think it was a big deal so I kept it.
I d o see what you mean though and I'll have better quality control in the future lol

You might want to keep some parts not painted with watercolor or not wet at all to have highlights there. But that requires extra planning ahead.

Ah I see. Well it's just a little nitpick.

Well, take your time to perfect it. Working with watercolors is not so easy because of how unpredictable the water is.

Hello, I'm here from ProjectComment 's Comment Tag game with a substitute comment. The tag-word given was "lonely." I may not know the character- but some people definitely get like this when thier lonely. Maybe her two-faced nature made her lonely and sad, haha?

I really love the way you've colored this, it's messy in a good way. Watercolors right? I've always loved the variety and styles you can get with watercolors- they blend and move and unique ways. I also really love the way you've varied the lines in the drawing- the different widths in it help add texture and variety to your drawings. You're amazing, haha. I think my favorite part of the drawing is the eyes. The light blue with the smeared make up all stands out amazingly.

It's really hard to find something to critique about this to be honest- you have no reason to be disappointed in this!

But the best bit of advice that I can think to give you is to perhaps play a little more with your shadows- pushing them a little farther will help add a little more dimension into your drawings.

Keep up the great work though. This also completes the tagline, so have a wonderful day! I look forward to more of your work (including crying girls, hehe). Good luck in the contest!!

You're most welcome.

I used to be the same way. I always felt that I'd ruin it by adding too intense shadows, but the deeper the shadows the more intense and interesting the drawing will be.
