It’s extremely unlikely this is true but I’d like to think they based Calhoun off of my FemShep. Check this out:
- Calhoun’s full name is Tamora Jean (Tammy Jean). My Shepard’s name is Cadrina Ellen (Cady Ellen)
- Both have short blond hair and blue eyes
- Both use hoverboards (Cadrina used to zip around on a SkyBoard when she was a kid)
- Both had fiancés that were killed tragically (Cady’s – a civilian reporter - dies after helping to restore power to an anti-aircraft gun during the Skylian Blitz)
- Both have been given pet names by their respective fiancés that set them off whenever anyone else says them (“Cady Cat” was Cadrina’s name)
Wreck-It-Ralph came out in late 2012. The fanfics I wrote featuring all these details were published months to about a year ahead. People working on the movie could have read them in passing and reworked those details into shaping Calhoun’s character; it was noted by a couple of them that Mass Effect was definitely one of the influences.
If it was true I wouldn’t sue. I’d just say they have very good taste…
