Why thank you very much. I started this quite some time ago. What I would normally use to begin a drawing is a 3H pencil. I will draw a basic outline, normally starting with the left eye. Once I have that sorted out I go over those lines with a darker pencil. I normally use an HB pencil to do this, although sometimes I use an H or a F pencil. For the hair I use the same pencils, plus a 3 or 4B pencil. For the background I started off with a 4B pencil but it needed to be darker. So I used a 8B pencil.

You've done more than enough thank you, I have a basic idea of what you've explained. I'm afraid it'll only help me so much because all I have to draw with is this old ruddy #2 pencil ^^' But nonetheless thank you very much, I'm trying to familiarize myself with different types and brands of drawing tools so I can do better in my art and so I can learn when to use them and this helps, a lot more than you know ^^
