I don't get the need for a Light type. Why should we have it? Oh what, because there's a Dark type? Why would Dark need ANOTHER WEAKNESS?
Even then, how would Light be strong against Dragon, the currently most overpowered type before X & Y's release, or even be possibly IMMUNE to Dragon like how Fairy might be?

XP I think a light type would have been better then a fairy type but that's my opinion (and why two, is because there were 2 introduced last time )
But "why should dark Pokemon have another weakness" is simmiler to the question "why make a new type" Anyway
I rather like my dark Pokemon and there's no reason to think light type would be super effective to dark types, i would think it would be neutral or both would be ineffective to each other. (like ghost and normal types )
Never said light would be strong against a dragon =^=
And dragons would probably be weak to fairy rather then immune (dosent make much sence for then to be immune )

So, by that logic, we should have a Light type just for no reason, despite that Fairy was made to counteract Dragon, which is overpowered, btw.
The only two ways to beat Dragon before was either another Dragon type or an Ice type.
Two problems with this.
1) Most Ice types are glass cannons and have too many weaknesses to counter. Most, if not all, of these weaknesses can be used by most Dragon types.
& 2) Dragon beats Dragon so it ends up being a battle of the better stats. A battle that's usually hard to win.
Fairy fixes both these problems and gives Dragon a solid weakness and balances it out with the other types.
Btw, I said FAIRY would probably be immune to dragon.

I don't see why not and they would have a purpose much like the others
(and rock and ground types exist though one would probably suffice )
and you mentioned the overpowered-ness of the dragons
They are oftain pusudo lengendarys and ΓΌber strong
Duel Ice types are pretty credible though. Like snorunt has No immunities, 4 weaknesses and only one resistance (to ice types)
But when it evolves to froslass it gains 2 immunities (one of which was a weakness,fighting ) It's now resistant to 3 types and Only gained 1 more weakness, Even though it is weak to rock and fire type moves it is still able to dominate over dragons with speed, priority moves like ice shard, and Tricks like disable and destiny bond.
Not to mention if you really don't want to deal with an ice type at all, the move blizzard can be taught to meny other Pokemon who don't,
Like porygon-z who is only damaged by dragon normally and has 1 immunity and is only weak to fighting
Dragon against dragon is a challange, but isent that what the fairy type is for? To create more of a challange?
Dragons are pretty well balance though every one thinks their not, the main problem comes from their Risistances (which are main ones like fire, water, grass, and electric ) and the fact that they have high base stats. But there are other Pokemon, like chandelure Have up to 3 immunitys they have 6 Ristances And it has the highest special attack out side a legendary currently available.
427 max while hydreigon Has a max of 383
I read, and the word " probably" is wha I was contending with, but any way we are having a Pokemon discussion here so we can argue over stats and types and uncertainties all we want.
