Hey, I'm no expert, so perhaps I cannot fully appreciate the worth of this drawing... but the usage of black and white on a non-white papre makes it almost three-dimensional. Great trick.
And the figure itself is so... serene. Just the way I imagine angels should be.

The term for what you've described, Corleinne, is chiaroscuro, which means "light and dark", and artists use it to give a feeling of dimensionality. It works beautifully in this image.

Graphite and white pencil on Canson Mi-Teint paper. Twas hard to do cos you cant' mix the white with the black so you need to know what you're doing before you do it.
