I was having a bad day, and Photoshop was open, so I decided to draw something to de-stress.I haven't drawn something for myself in forever! I also haven't used a reference to draw a horse in forever as well, so please feel free to laugh at me for the anatomy. Especially the ears. And the mane. I don't know how to draw hair anymore.
I felt like I had forgotten how to paint in Photoshop. All my works from the past year (and maybe longer) have been cel-shaded or pen-tool-made or vectorized or drawn in a Flash app. I re-learned a lot of stuff. Now time to forget it all again until finals pass! ...
Please feel free to critique me, especially on underwater aspects, because I love painting underwater scenes. I usually don't revisit pieces but I'll keep your comments in mind for the next time I paint (if there ever is a next time!). Just don't say it's boring - I know that already
It's just a practice piece!This is dedicated to ~blorbx . We're going to the Caribbean for spring break because we're both avid divers. Hence this picture. Although I doubt we'll see any hippocampuses drifting around!
Inspiration: the dolphinfish for the coloring of the horse, mother-of-pearl for the hooves (though that didn't show up too well...)
Speedpaint. Approximately 2.5 hours, Photoshop CS4 and Wacom Graphire tablet

Haha, as far as I can tell peophins and hippocampi look alike! Except peophins have a stupid gem on their forehead. Maybe I'll submit it to the art gallery, we'll see how far it gets

Not for the horse, at least. I looked up what mother of pearl looks like, and I tried to find a picture of glinty fish underwater, but I couldn't find any.
