Ballpoint pen.

You know what character I have huge a girl-crush on at this moment? Ginko from Mushishi (by Yuki Urushibara)!

I love his down-to-earth, practical, yet sardonic personality. It also helps that he's this knowledgeable traveler that respects life and wishes to help people in need. <3 And WHITE HAIR.

Why can't any of my characters be that cool?! I don't' want to ogle over other people's characters when I can make my own, now do I?! >< So after some character studying, I decided to make a similar character, but of course, with my spin instead because blatant copyright infringements are not cool. His face isn't finalized here. I still have to strike that balance I want.

I couldn't find a good name for the new character, so I picked something simple: Wil. He'll never be as cool as Ginko because he doesn't have white hair.. nor does he smoke (smoking's not cool, but Ginko makes it seem so)... nor is he drawn by a Kodansha Manga of the Year Award winner.. but it can be my homage to Ginko.

By the way, Mushishi is a great anime too. Check it out. It's not all super action-y or anything, but it's got this whole magical occult eerie-ness and folktales-y-ness to it that is quite charming. The art style, colour palette, and tone of the whole anime is quite enlightening and nostalgia-inducing for me as well. I can only hope that there will be another season of it made some day.
