Kheled-zaram (Mirrormere), is a small lake near Khazad-dΓ»m. it is said that you could see reflections of stars on the surface of the lake at any time of the day.I tried to illustrate the first arrival of Durin the Deathless on the lake

The sky in this picture is lovely - the clouds, the shooting stars, the hazy light. The galaxies that you can see in the reflection but not in the sky itself work really well.
I wouldn't bother worrying about the plausibility of the sky, especially given that in the version of the Legendarium most people follow the Moon wouldn't even exist yet. As this scene is taken from mythology pretty and metaphorical probably works better anyway.

My favourite series has that Durin was already awake and wandering when the Noldor were making their way to Valinor, so the sky looking very night-ish would fit that.
It also doesn't hurt that I can think that figure looks a little like Kili from behind, since the same series has Kili as Durin the Seventh.

It's stunning! I love the colours. Maybe next time when you'll redraw this pic you can add Gimli, Frodo and Sam cos I think they stopped there when they escaped from Khazad-dΓ»m.

actually I was struggling between drawing Gimli, frodo, Sam /Durin, but then I saw there're many people already that missing scene XD and I also think the world was more beautiful at Durin's time ~
