Yeah, a time when Ho-oh and Lugia were supreme... It's a shame the other regions don't actually reference other Legendaries, unless it is Celebii, or Mew. Possibly Lucario in certain ones. But never do they mention the Legendary Birds.
Instead, they come up with 30 new Legendaries, making it almost impossible to keep track of. Oh, how confusing their lore mustbe... (How do they only have one story for each?!)

Yeah second gen really busted down the doors for these legendary pokemon. And I mean there WERE legendaries in the first games, but they weren't in all honesty as memorable as these guys.
Or... maybe that's just me. Gold version was my first game back in like 2000

Nah, I liked Zapdos and Articuno best. But the legendaries back then were just rare species, including Moltres and Mew. Then of course there was the human-made Mewtwo. (Notice the only other human-made project is the Poryggon line, and Genesect?)
In Gold/Silver, they made Ho-oh and Lugia far more special, and more like patron gods of the region. Celibii too, as a Forest God.
Ruby/Saphire... that is where they started to get a bit rediculous.
Diamond/Pearl getting a bit out of hand, but the golems were cool. And the dragons, very well done. Garitina is the best :3 Could have done without Arceus though. It kinda ruined it for me.
Black/White..... A circus. That's what it is. All the rejects thrown into a Gen. About 15 different legendaries (probably more) and it is just a zoo! And they failed to have lore for how they effect the region.
So yeah, Gen 1 and 2 were the BEST. How I wish I could return to a time when everything was simple and straightforward... Where the designs of the creatures actually made sense...
