How I see this: The rival who was about to confess to Taro was another yandere who attempted to kill him. Shocked and frightened, Taro felt like his feet were stuck to the ground and began to lose hope until he heard someone running towards them. He spots Ayano, cutter in hand, tackling the rival to the ground as she attempts to slit her throat. The rival then tried to stab Ayano with her scissors but Ayano was too quick to move and instantly disarmed the muddied rival and proceeded to stab those scissors on her right shoulder, earning Ayano a scream of pain that soon turned into gurgling cries as blood began oozing out of the poor girl's mouth and throat. Ayano did it, she was able to protect the one she loves the most. She stood up and turned to face Taro, who was still in shock of the events that occurred right before his eyes. Knowing this, she then took a step forward with Taro taking a step back, afraid that he might suffer the same fate that befell the bloody girl. With his back against the cherry tree, he felt trapped though something in his mind tells him everything's going to be fine, that this girl can be trusted after risking her life to save him. Ayano, now just a few inches in front of him, suddenly hugged Taro while trying to calm him down, assuring him that she'll be here for him and that she would always protect him even if it means her life is on the line. Taro couldn't react nor think properly, all he can do now is hug this girl tight and let his emotions out.
(Since my little sister suddenly barged into the room and ruining my concentration, I'm not so sure if I did a good job in this one or not.)
