If you don't mind me asking, what school did you go to and what was your major?
(I go to SCAD and trying to choose the best major for a future concept artist.)

I went to SCAD and my major changed from 3D animation to Illustration. However I made the switch to focus more on my own stuff. Most of my time spent on doing 'concept art' was in my own time. It helps to check out what senior level professionals are doing out there, and compare yourself to them, to see what you need to do to bridge the gap. I was fortunate to meet a fellow student at SCAD ATL who told me to move out to LA. After I graduated drove out here, took a couple classes at the Concept Design Academy [link] and during that time got a job at Insomniac. I see you're at Scad ATL, I believe Nolan Woodard and Shawn Crystal can tell you of my hours spent in the Cintiq lab : ) Goodluck!

I don't think that it's over designed, it's sexy (on so far as something like this can be that is). My only compliant is that as the mech puts it's leg down (while walking), it's going to put all of the strain on those two little frame struts that join the 'shin' to the 'ankle'.

Over designed? Ha! That thing is awesome. I'm tempted to make that in 3D.

After reading this page; [link] ; all I can think of is how bad it would hurt to be stomped on by it.
