Why would he need to take it? It’s tech is probably straight from Atlas, being Hard Light Dust.

It’s not the hard light that’s impressive, but the ability to copy a weapon in its entirety (See Volume 2 finale where Coco states that Velvet created it). So far we haven’t seen anything like that out of Atlas.

Using an enemy´s weapon is dangerous, because you never know if it´s rigged or something.
For all Ironwood knows, the camera could explode violently if he presses the wrong button.

That's assuming they just grab it and immediately use it (which isn't likely). Rather than having it taken into an engineering lab to be disassembled for analysis.

It could still be connected to Velvet´s scroll and blow up some time after she died, or if it is too far away from her for too long. Or maybe they have to press certain buttons in a specific order to keep it from exploding when they open it.
Another idea is that it has a certain mechanism in place that reacts to Velvet´s aura, and if anyone but her tries to use or disassemble it, boom.

I very much doubt Velvet's camera is like Blade's sword from Marvel.
Point still stands. They would deconstruct it with caution. Heck, they have robots that can do it for them.

Just throwing out some ideas here.
