I've always had a fascination with the masai people-this is beautiful because it shows a culture and the people within it just doing what they've always done.I hope you take more pictures Have a good day !

I kinda feel happy and sad about the Maasai people. They've preserved a remarkable amount of their wonderful culture in this modern world. In this way they are somewhat like the Amish in America. And, unfortunately, like the Amish people they've basically become a living tourist attraction. However, the Maasai have prospered in comparison to much of Africa because of the influx of tourists and money. Kenya is one of the poorest countries in the world and they do what they can to live decent lives.

And thats all you can do-try to live and never give up.I agree with you about what they've become . . .very sad.i hope you have a good day though

this is truely an amazing photo. I first saw it as a thumbnail and I thought it was a painting at first and I opened it and saw it was a photo. it's really fascinating and captures me and completely brings me into it. it's also interesting to me because I myself am a photographer/painter and am really trying to find the connection the two worlds share. great work.

How did you go to Kenya? Was it through vacation or volunteer or friends? I'm curious because I'd like to go someday. What was it like? Can you give me any advice?

mebay In reply to BuddhaJean [2009-07-23 09:35:14 +0000 UTC]

I went on a vacation with my family. We had one week of safari in three or four different national parks and then we had one week of relaxing and swimming on zanzibar. It was totally awesome and a great adventure. It was amazing to see so many wild animals with your own eyes and not on discovery channel. If you get the chance you really should go there!

BuddhaJean In reply to mebay [2009-07-24 03:06:05 +0000 UTC]

That's really awesome! I'd love to do something like that! Which place would you say your favorite one was? How is Zanzibar? Is that the place where the spice road leads or am I confusing it with somewhere else?

mebay In reply to BuddhaJean [2009-07-24 08:42:09 +0000 UTC]

My favourite national park was probably Samboru or Masai Mara. Lake Nakuru was nice but not as nice as i thought it was gonna be. Yes, zanzibar is the island of spices. : )
