Mostly the die. But sometimes she have a social day and let them be her zombies

So she absorbs the people they sink into her body as if she was quick sand.
And then she lets them out later to only reabsorb them again?

No, not that way. She eats the soul of her victims, who are in this moment in a kind of coma - normaly you would die, if someone steals your soul (I guess so).
But sometimes she left a little bit of the soul where it belong, and with that soulpiece you could survive.
But just maybe, its like russian roulette.
