Very nicely done "classic" version, I like the color. It will also do as a Basilisk at a pinch, since the two got hopelessly compounded by the 13th century.

Awesome!
That's a really nice version of a cockatrice ^_^. I love all the colors you used, and the way he's got a foot over teh skull is an especially nice touch. I also really like how spindly some of the plumage is. He looks nice 'n' menacing. *faves*

Hell yes. Honestly this has to be the best depiction of a cockatrice I have ever seen. I love how you've managed to give the rather ancient, nasty-smelling, twisted and unkempt look rather than overglorify it as I so often see done. And I simply do not know how you managed such perfect watercolor look in Photoshop.

Look at his face! Was it not the Cockatrice who turned people to stone when he looked into their eyes? There were a few animals who did this, actually...
wow, the details! on the wings! the scaely feet! and that face...*shudders* He's magnificent, a feast for the eyes--as long as he doesn't look into mine!

Mmm... so much better than the usual depiction of a cranky-looking rooster. Such gorgeous colors, too! I love the touches of blue in the bronze back-feathers, and the yellow eyes.

Thanks
The drawing was done really quickly. Something like an hour or so. The painting of it was completed over one weekend. I'm guessing it took about twenty hours from start to finish.

You've strong drawing skills. The colors are beautiful. I think you can push the values some more. It looks a bit flat now. Some dark shades in the appropriate areas can do wonders in enhancing it's volume.

Thanks,
I use Photoshop for most everything I do. Smudge tool, Dodge, Burn, Paintbrush, that kind of thing.
