How exactly do you make such things? Was the orange slice actually held in that position until the water froze? Or did you use some sort of "instant-freezing" method on the water to seal the orange in place?

AH, okay. I kind of considered that, but not knowing how determined your are or aren't, you could have been "like a boss" and just sat there all night holding it in place until the water froze
(forgive the term in "" if you don't recognize it; it's something I've heard here, and it seemed to fit the context of the sentence)
