Description
My 4 year old daughter wanted to draw Kitty Pryde and Lockheed a few weeks ago, so she and I could have side-by-side entries in one of my portfolios. After the fact, I decided to use mine as another digital coloring practice piece. I just really wanted to digitally paint that cloud.BTW, here's a previous Kitty and Lockheed piece , if you're interested.

WEEEEE! Love it! Kitty Pryde and Lockheed are easily my favourite tag team and one of my favorite bromances in comics, so it's awesome your daughter loves them as much as I do!

Lockheed is an alien dragonoid who Kitty first met in space when she was starting out in the X-Men. He rescued her from the Brood, a terrifying Xenomorph like race of aliens who happen to the hated enemy of Lockheed's species, who are sometimes known as the Flock. Lockheed's race don't have a homeworld and fly about in ships (sort of like the Quarians in Mass Effect) and I think it's believed to be because the Brood infected and conquered their world with their hives.
Anyhoo, long story short, Lockheed decided to stick around with Kitty after she and the X-Men went back to Earth and became something like her pet, though in reality he was highly intelligent and Kitty considered him as much one of her best friends than anything else. He's since become an honoree X-Men member, alongside joining the alien defence organisation SWORD, the British based supernatural and mutant overseeing group Excalibur, and becoming one of the Pet Avengers who were a group of animals who secretly help the human types from behind the scenes.
Lockheed does tend to be not used overly well these days and tends to be a background player, but he still tends to stick close to Katherine and acts at times almost like an overprotective big brother as much as a friend, especially around former romances of hers like Pete Wisdom (who Lockheed hated for him trying to seduce Kitty when she was still very young). Kitty and Lockheed's powers very much compliment each other and they are generally a very effective tag team when in battle.

Lockheed was her sidekick back in the day. I'm not sure what his status is these days though.
