Description
Gambit forOriginal will be sent to her, and print size version will be sent later.
A gift commission done for generousity of getting me an extra year of DA subscribtion.
This version of Gambit done directly referenced from the comic art... I suppose the person chose that one style of Gambit for a reason, so I stayed with it.

Finished coloring.
Hmm, with this style of coloring... there's no problem doing severial comic pages per day. Its so easy... yet look nice.

I..I...don't know what words can be used to describe this outstanding tribute to X-Men's Gambit. All the words I can think of can not even begin to describe the quality you show in all your work and this is no exception. The level of skill you use is unfathomable and beyond comparison. Truly an artist of immense calibur.

Wow.
I was just browsing through your gallery seeing what kind of stuff you've been doing over the past few months and this one stood out big time from your other stuff due to the fact that it's such a turnabout in style for you -- great to see your take on Gambit, he's not my most favourite character ever but I've always liked his design and you have nailed it.
First off, I'm loving those bits of flame in the BG and foreground, very nice to see you haven't gone too CG crazy with them and have instead let your lines do the talking.
Speaking of lines, your inking is great though I would have liked to see you playing with the line weights more to really make certain elements '
Also, his hair is a tad plastic and stiff looking for my liking...one thing I love about a lot of your pics is how well the characters' hair flow. I don't know if you decided to draw the hair differently here in order to mirror a more American style but I really miss that flow here.
Lastly, the CG is great -- I like how you manage to capture the real graphic and iconic look of American comics, yet you haven't overblown the picture with lots of garish primaries. I feel you could have taken the lighting effects that extra distance though -- as it is right now it's pretty much perfect but I would have loved to see a bit more red/magenta (from the powered card) lighting dotted about his hand and face. I would have loved to have seen the flames affecting the lighting a tiny bit more as well -- we can still tell he's in front of a raging fire but I really think some more of an orange glow about his person would have helped immensely.
These are all minor quibbles however and don't detract from the piece as a whole. Nice work from you May, keep it up!

I shall work on my line work and inking more to create more distance in the future. I tend to ink with just G pen instead of using a variety of thicker dip. I will try that more.
As for the touch of lighting, you are right, I was paying a lot of attention to the style and forgot that part of the detail. That's a good reminder. I will pay more careful attention.

OH YEAH! GAMBIT !!!!! My favorite character from X-men (I also love Rogue) great job! you made him really cool ^^. Can't wait to see the colored version ^^ I must admit I'm used to gambit from the animation with shorter hair ^^ but he looks cool like this too
