I didn't really care for The Shining novel. Then again, I don't care for Stephen King in general. He begins with a decent concept, but--at least from what I've read--is unable to maintain a static mood. He too often goes to the absurd.

unlike Palaniuk, i dont like everything King has done...in fact only a fraction of what he wrote but i did enjoy The Shining,The Stand, and IT..maybe a few more...but i do agree...most times it just gets stupid the further you go..lol..i hated Tommyknockers..i really thought it was going somewhere but then it became about aliens and just ruined it for me..but ive learned to expect that from King and Koontz..its hit or miss..ive been too busy to get back to Dr. Sleep so i cant comment any further on that..
