Description I completed this painting before my trip to Canada last week. I finally have time to post it now.

She is playing an ancient Chinese harp (or konghou). It went extinct sometime in the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), but was revived in the 20th century. The shape of the modern version of the instrument does not resemble the ancient one, rather, it resembles a Western harp. [link]

I saw a music video with a chinese song on it and the girl in the one shot was wearing something like this and was playing a harp a lot like that one-where you inspired by that by any chance?

I have always been an admirer of the quality and tone of music from the Celtic harp (played by Alan Stivell and other masters) which has led me to listen to various instruments of old. I can only wonder what this elegant konghou would sound like when played by an accomplished musician. Perhaps in your art gallery it should be playing while viewing this lovely painting? I particularly like the back lighting in this piece. Time to research the sound of the konghou!
