Description
Another glimpse of Phénice's childhood memories. Even if she knows stealing is bad, the hunger was too strong, and those juicy apples too tempting!
That picture was really fun to paint, I tried to put a lot of attention to the lighting and, of course, the apples!

I was referring more to bacteria and other stuff, not pesticides. Those would actually reduce the amount of potential diseases that might be on the apples because there would be fewer insects getting on them.

To be fair, most bacteria gets to the fruits and veggetables while their are being packaged and delivered to the store. My grandpa used to own a small orchard, the only things we washed before eating were stuff that grew near the ground, like cucumbers, tomatos, strawberries or raspberries. Everything that grew on trees or on fairly large bushes (blackberries, apples, etc.) we ate without washing.
Hell, I remember me and a bunch of friends once made a "raid" on a local blackberry orchard and ate it all right then and there.

That's true, though it's usually better to be safe than sorry, especially since handling food without washing your hands first is a great way to get bad stuff on it before you put it into your mouth. But I'm not so much of a germophobe that I think it's a guarantee that you'll get yourself sick by not washing fruits or vegetables before you eat them. If that were the case, humans would have died out a long time ago.

N'empêche, je connais quelqu'un dont tout le verger a été dépouillé (il ne reste que les poires pas encore mûres), et qui se demande pourquoi il n'y a pas même un fruit par terre (donc ce n'est pas l'orage). En plus, le connaissant, si on le lui avait demandé gentiment, il aurait laissé prendre un panier ou deux (pas tout, il doit bien manger, lui aussi).

I'd steal apples from a tree when I was in elementary school with a friend who probably wasn't the best influence~
We got caught, once, and I got freaked out, but the owner of the tree was actually really nice and said that they were glad someone was picking the apples. Apparently they didn't use the tree that much to the point where apples would just fall and go bad, so they let us pick as many as we wanted. That was nice of them...
I guess a farmer would be actively using the apples, though~! But if they knew a kid was just hungry, then... yeah... he's kinda being a jerk. :/

Yeah you will have people allowig everyone to ake fruits from branches, and others wo absolutely won't permit it, it's really depending of the person. That said, to be fair for the farmer, you can easily imagine there are a lots a kids taking apples from his trees so we can understand it's annoying after a while, and he doesn't know Phénice doesn't have much more to eat at the moment!
