Description
This was one of my first oil paintings. It was the capstone piece of a series of paintings based around yoga and the chakra, the other three were water colors. My intent with this painting was to combine the classical drawing by Leonardo of the man and his ideal proportions, and the symbols of the Chakra occasionally referred to in yoga. The reference to classical artwork and symbols is really what gives this piece its strength.Edit: 2007.12.25 (Merry Christmas, everyone). Due to the popularity of this piece, I decided to scan in the original, rather than relying on the shoddy photo of the painting that was here previously. The full sized scan is around 3500x4700, and if there's enough interest, I may offer prints. Unfortunately, with this update I've added the obnoxious 'watermark' of sorts (it's not present on my full size scan though). Too many people were hijacking the image for their own use without crediting me, so I decided to add the watermark. Enjoy!

Glad that you like the piece. The original painting is in storage about 18 hours away from where I'm living now, but I have the scans saved in my archives somewhere. As soon as I find them, I'll get a high-quality full sized image uploaded for printing purposes.

No, they did not ask my permission to use the image. They never informed me that it was being used at all. In fact, I've never heard of these people. There's also some leeches on MySpace who have used this same image without ever asking permission for it either. And really, I'm not sure about how to go about getting some form of compensation for it either.
Now, having said that, I have given a few people permission to use the image. A few people have used it in their journal entry features. They have been granted permission. One person has it tattooed on their shoulder; they had my blessing in doing so as well. But no, nobody else has it (until they request it anyway).

I do meditation exercises often when working with Reiki and the chakras. This is a great way to visualize the energy and it almost looks like the soul is overthrowing the physical body.
Love it love it love! One of the best pieces on this subject I have seen in a very long time.
