Description
Human vertebral column, viewed from the front and from the side. Check that there are 7 cervical, 12 dorsal and 5 lumbar vertebrae, from the ear to the hip, plus the sacrum and the coccyx.
To understand it better, I divided the spine into 5 equal parts vertically (2 parts for the dorsal vertebrae) and into 3 parts laterally. So, you can see how the dorsal vertebrae go to the back of the body and the lombar go forward.
It´s based on drawings in the book "Anatomy for the Artist" (Sarah Simblet).

I am college student and am doing a report on spines for Drawing Anatomy at the Art Institute and I would like to ask you what made you want to draw this, and any other information you may have on Spine anatomy.
You don't have to respond if you don't want to, and it doesn't need to be detailed, just need a slight observation from another artist.

Hi, there, CommanderZero!
Well, I think that studying anatomy is really essential to draw well, so I´m trying to study thoroughly the book "Anatomy for the Artist" (Sarah Simblet), which I mentioned above. Although I know that this task will take me a long time to accomplish.
So, actually I´ve drawn the spine just because the chapter where I was at the book was all about the spine. But I put efforts into it, and I want to study it more, because it seems to me that the spine is particularly very important to understand the balance of the body and well... it´s our axis and connects many different parts of the body. So it could be considered the center of the body too.
I has been drawing many illustrations in the last weeks, and I really could realize the importance of studying the spine before. As I know the curves the human body does and which lenght it has, it´s much easier to draw new bodies.
Well, about other information than the details I´ve already put as "image information", I think it would be better to check the original book, eheh. It´s a bit expensive, but worths each cent!
Which Art Institute do you study in? I could see a lot of "Art Institutes" searching on Google.
See you and good studies!

Thanks for the info Ill make sure to reference you on my report and maybe check out this book you talked about. I go to the Art Institute of Austin and I am studying Game Art and Design, but I mostly draw a lot of anatomy.
You've been very helpful and I thank you again, I also enjoyed many of your drawings and hope you continue your awesomeness!
