If the current rumors are to be believed, then Indy was effected by the radiation: by the next movie he will have mutated into Chris Pratt.

Actually, Harrison Ford will be Indiana Jones himself in the 5th movie.

No prob. Still interested to see who they'll get to do it when Ford's gone, myself.

As Constable Benton Fraser of the RCMP would often say to Raymond Vecchio of CPD (in the teleivion series 'Due South') "It would be a moot point."
Don't forget to make allowance for the fact that Indy did drink from the Cup of Chirst in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
Indy had to test the cup by drinking from it before taking it to his dad, Henry, who was dying of a gunshot wound. Henry made a recovery Β after drinking from it.
Therefore the odds being 50/50 would be considered moot point, since he could still survivval, due to his drinking from the Cup of Christ, which would have allowed him to live a little longer, like the last knight near the end of the 'Last Crusade' movie.
Well, that's my theory.

I'm fairly certain this info graphic, though seemingly on the movie's side, is actually tongue-in-cheek sarcasm, and sets out to prove exactly the opposite: That Indian Jones REALLY should have died... OR that they just shouldn't have put this scene into the movie at all. (Spoiler Alert =>) At least it wasn't as dumb as the alien flying saucer at the end of the movie... just dumb... GREAT infographic bytheway!

I thought that scene was awesome I mean surviving a tank falling off a cliff is fine but surviving an nuclear bomb in a LED LINED Fridge is bad BULLSHIT

Well what specifically was bad about it? What had you leaving the theater either contemplating suicide or contemplating murdering George Lucas?

YouFailAtFailing In reply to allthegoldenguns [2014-06-03 17:10:49 +0000 UTC]
Well, the most obvious problem, ALIENS! This is Indiana Jones, not Star Wars! The plot is riddled with holes, the action scenes are obnoxiously unsatisfactory, and what is the deal with the monkey's segment? The whole "snake vs rope" thing is too corny to stand, the constant double-crossing happens so often it ceases to be surprising and becomes agonizing, and why on earth would you cast Shia Lebouf, star of the worst trilogy in cinema history? George Lucas stopped making good movies for the sake of making good movies after Return of the Jedi. He started making movies for the money, and as such, the quality went down the drain.

i wont dispute the lower quality of Lucas films of the later years (before bought by disney) But i will call foul on Aliens in Indiana Jones. Are Aliens really that big a leap for the series.... honestly? When Temple of Doom had mystical stones and Indian sorcery mixed with blood sacrifices, mind control, and child slavery?Β
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's failure isn't that it's bad.... it's failure is that it fallowed Last Crusade (arguably the best Indiana Jones Flick ever) and fell into the same mistakes of Temple of Doom and ignored why Last Crusade is superior (even to the first film) giving to Crystal Skull's cash grab appearance. hints why Shia was casted.
If you watch Raiders of the Lost Ark fallowed by Last Crusade..... Crystal Skull falls flat......Β If you watch Temple of Doom then Crystal Skull.... It's a natural progression of the Character and feels like home.
tl;dr: Stop giving Temple of Doom a free ride because it came betweenΒ Lost Ark and Last Crusade..... Temple of Doom isn't all that great, Crystal Skull is more of a Sequel to Temple of Doom then it is Last Crusade. Hopefully Indy 5 will be more Last Crusade and less Temple of Doom. (maybe Indy movies are like versions of Windows. only the Odd numbers are great.)

Temple of Doom having mystical stones and Indian sorcery isn't that odd compared to a box that can melt off your face or a cup that can grant life. It's all based off of mythology. Aliens are not.

ducktapeman57 In reply to YouFailAtFailing [2016-03-21 21:44:53 +0000 UTC]
actually the Crystal Skull IS based of mythology and have historical significance in Aztec/Mayan Culture . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_β¦
When they were first discovered they were believed to be connected to some alien or Extra Terrestrial origin as they were heavily detailedΒ andΒ believed to be impossible to make by hand with period correct tools but carbon dating said they were to old to be forgery.
Also it is hard to not talk about Atlantis & Antient Egypt without bring up Aliens as again Mythology believed (especially around the time Indian Jones is set) Alien or not of this earth involvement went into both legends and caused many of the unexplained historical peaces..... in fact The Ark left out most of the Alien ideals as it at one time was believed to be a power source of some kind (very unstable one too) and was mistaken as a religious artifact that could be in communication to god as it spat fire and lightning when opened.
so yes.... Aliens are Mythology..... highly unscientific.... but Mythology.Β

I never said the Crystal Skull itself wasn't Mythology, just the aliens part. It's just that Indiana Jones is of the Historical Fiction/Adventure/Fantasy Genre, not Science Fiction. Science Fiction does not belong.

ducktapeman57 In reply to YouFailAtFailing [2016-03-21 23:53:46 +0000 UTC]
reread my previous post. and tell me where i lost you. Aliens ARE Mythology... they are just a part of Mythology as Religion. Lucas is a Sci-fi writer by trade. the Crystal skull's possible Alien origin in mythology was a almost a gift from god to him and he went overboard with it i wont say he didn't.
Mythology is a collection of myths, especially one belonging to a particular sacred, religious, or cultural tradition of a group of people. Myths are a collection of stories told to explain nature, history, and customsβor the study of such myths.
that is mythology's definition. your caught up on the religious and sacred aspects.... Β but aliens fall under cultural. every nation, every civilization has ties or theories about life outside our earth.
and as for Indiana Jones, your half right. The series is Historical Fiction and Action Adventure BUT it's also science fiction and heavily influenced by James Bond.
Dr. Jones is a archeologist/teacher with a major in History and Science. of all the adventures he has had. all of them should fall into the realm of hocus pocus/Sci-fi and until he is proven wrong (he didn't believe the ark had special properties and dismissed it as false translations or Science Fiction, same with the Stones in india, and the Holy Grail.... he even went as far as calling his dad a fool for wasting so much of his life studying a religious science fiction fairy tail.) he always dismisses the claims of the supernatural science fiction like reputation a historical artifact may have and comes around by the end.

They weren't aliens, though. George wanted them to be aliens, and he was persistent, but he loop-holed Stephen with "interdimentional beings".
I do agree that this film stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to the classic trilogy, but kind of like with Aliens: CM, I think critical reception has been a little too harsh.

"ONCE BEYOND THE GREAT SEAL, THE POWER IS LOST".
Remember that?
It was the entire reason why the knight had to stay inside the cave...
...that's why Indy's dad died, after they passed the seal, he died from his injuries.
