i build all in cinema4D > export depth pass. u can also use blender. look on youtube for "blender" and/or "cinema 4d" and "depth" "zbuffer" for tutorials

i know an offset filter in photoshop, but it´s completly different ...
have you searched for the tutorials for blender/c4d i mentioned? - then you should see, if the photoshop "Offset tool" should work.
or ... look at this wikipedia article:

the result is a greyscale image with the depth information - for example: white is front > black is back
hope this helps you to understand, what an depth buffer image is and that u can build it from 3D models or by hand/photoshop (for pattern ...)
