You've been doing more concepts of this game idea? I'm still stuck on my own game idea. I think I've just about given up on it now. Heh!

I hate it when people think that just because they do something quick it's bad. I only WISH my sketches could come out as good. This is a REALLY nice piece.

Could always be a first mate for Risky Boots. I mean, I don't think Tinkerbats make good conversation partners, and Risky would probably be egostistical enough to have someone more intelligent than a Tinkerbat to boss around.

One look at that monkey made me crack a smile due to the fact that for a short while,
I was reading the title of your guys' latest game on the DSi as Mighty Flip "Chimps".
Or perhaps this is in fact the concept art for said expansion/sequel? ^ ^;

Any chance we'll see her in any game?
She looks like she could deliver some very nicely animated a$$-kicking!
Good to see more submissions from you, btw. Quickie, but fun-looking.

I'd love to read the pitch that went along with this - "She's a GIRL! Who's a PIRATE! And has a GUN! (and a monkey!)"
You know what, I think it'd honestly be hard for me to resist a game called "PirateGunGirl".

Ha ha, well the game is a sea sailing beat-em-up called "Maiden Voyage", and its four girls each with a different weapon and animal. A girl who beats people with an oar, this girl with a pop gun pistol, a sword slashing chick, and a fencer. 4 players, each using a Wii remote for their form of attack. I'd pitched a similar game years ago for Gamecube called Risky Waters which was Shantae themed. There's more to it than that, but you get the general appeal.

This is one reason why I like Pirates. There's always a gem in the bunch. Like this one for example.
I do speed sketches all the time; maybe not on a tablet, but on actual paper. I doodle till I find a good spark of life in it, and I see that spark in this one.

I wish I could do quick stuff like that. Even if this is rough, I want to know what this character is like.

I think its the colors. If you've got access to a digital tablet, it really helps with this kind of thing. I speed sketch on a layer for like 30 seconds, then add a layer and dim the first one, try to strengthen the drawing, then literally scribble color under all of it. As soon as the next step feels like moving from an idea to an actual drawing, I quit.

I'm too much of a perfectionist so I never feel happy with the results that I get. It slows me down.

Worst case Scenario: they publish the idea, but on only on condition that it retains that sketchy look.... in a 3D engine using cell shading.

Another worst case scenario would be not showing any of the official art and replacing with with lifelss 3D versions of the character. Sort of like what they do with Final Fantasy games.

Is that stuff still the concept art? I thought they just brought the guy in post-production for the sake of tradition.
