Description
Casualties are an unfortunate part of war. Golems are powerful and might be considered more expendable, but they normally have rather limited intelligence and could be outsmarted by experienced soldiers. Conjured soldiers have a similar issue, and require a mage on hand to maintain them.
To mitigate these issues, Smith Magicworks has developed a series of artificial bodies. A trained operator is petrified or otherwise placed into stasis and their soul is extricated to be placed in the soul drive, the core of the unit. Should the soul drive be destroyed, they would snap back to their original bodies.
The GSD-E9 Eisenseele units are heavy fighters. They are as strong as an ox, able to carry heavy equipment. While they do have some weak points, such as the joints, they are made of an anemically enhanced alloy with duality enhancing enchantments. While not fleet of foot, with their stamina they can run almost forever.
While they have a number of slots for attaching equipment across the body, they also have a number of built-in functions. This includes advanced sensory devices, able to provide tactical information such as mana readings, thermal optical vision, and night vision, as well as a H.U.D. The arms contain a stun cable, periscope, and smoke pelt dispenser. In each leg are hammerspace compartments.
Their combat capabilities can be modified with the addition a variety of equipment. The slots on their forearms, shoulders, back, hips, and calves can be fit with specialized and interchangeable gear. Should the mission call for it, they can be set for heavy artillery or a more stealthy touch. Both melee and ranged gear is available.
They were brought to life using the wellspring of animation, so they don't need to stop moving. Their micro-mana generators will, over time, fill their mana capacitors used for other functions, which can include powering their gear or strength-enhancing enchantments. External capacitors could be attached for longer battles.
Considerations have been made for the mental health of the operator. This includes the ability to sleep in low power mode and simulated sensations. The colors are also customizable, allowing them to add a bit of individuality. A chameleon enchantment allows for quick change between on and off duty modes, as well as additional camouflage.
While not available for purchase, their services can be rented through the Fortune of the Cosmos mercenary group. However, rumor has it that the Blitzeiche military has gotten their hands on them as well.
Something I had been toying around with for a while. The golems of Trivium aren't generally very smart, although there are exceptions. Given that Lilly is a sorceress, inventor, and interdimensional traveler, I saw it fitting she would play around with robotics, or at least hire engineers to help her with it.
Smith Magicworks is Lilly's R&D lab in Starcoast City. Fortune of the Cosmos is a mercenary group run by a few of Lilly's slaves. Blitzeiche is Lilly's country, which is mostly composed of Thundering Oak and a nearby plateau. In-universe, it's not well-known that she controls all three.
Part of this has to do with my love of robots and mecha anime. I might have partly gotten the idea from the anime ID-0.
