I apologize in advance for sounding contentious, but I disagree with what I seem to be reading here. Please correct me if I misunderstand you here.
If I understand correctly, you’re saying that Nintendo should only add characters into Smash that a large vocal majority of ‘true fans’ request.
You also appear to be saying that certain characters should not be added because their inclusion would be ‘vulgar fanservice,’ without defining what that means to you, and I’m curious as to what definition you attribute to ‘fanservice,’ as well as why you find it vulgar.
Thirdly, you seem to be arguing that Min Min and Cloud are immensely overrated due to Min Min being from a game you hated and Cloud never having appeared on a Nintendo console before Smash 4.
Again, please correct me if I am not understanding you correctly here. If you’re alright with it, I’d also like to share my opinion on the subjects you mentioned, but if you were just trying to get your frustration out, not have a discussion, I get that too.

I’m actually not offended, sorry if I sound like I am, I just disagree a little is all.
Thank you for sharing your definition of fanservice so I can better understand where you’re coming from. I actually thought Min Min was chosen because she was Chinese, to appeal to the Chinese audience, until I heard Sakurai explain she was selected because the Director of ARMS asked for Min Min specifically, so I certainly understand feeling frustrated at characters being chosen just to appeal to a relatively small portion of the fan base. That said, I still don’t fully agree with the choice of ARMS as a franchise to include considering my experience with playing Min Min has been the equivalent of playing Little Mac if he had Simon’s Whip - utterly braindead.
I’ve never played ARMS, only watched other people play it, so I’m afraid I can’t say much about Min Min’s apparently empty background. Are there other ARMS characters who are introduced with more background knowledge, or are all ARMS characters just as unknown and mysterious?
Another issue I find that ARMS runs into is that it’s Nintendo’s attempt at a non-Smash fighting game. While I applaud their willingness to try to take a step in a unique direction, and it’s very cool that it uses the Joycons so interactively, I think in this instance we ran into another problem with Nintendo generally having a very weak starting lineup of games for new consoles - sure, the numbers say ARMS did pretty well, but how much of that was because its only real competition was Breath Of The Wild? Pretty much every other early Switch game was markedly less interesting than a game about people with Slinkies for arms(glares pointedly at Twintelle), which doesn’t say much positive about Nintendo’s early Switch games. If Ultimate and ARMS had come out in reverse order - with Ultimate being part of the Switch’s opening lineup and ARMS following well after the initial hype had cooled down - we may have seen a very different story.
I do know the basic story of FFVII - and to tangent, I would highly recommend the comic ‘FFVII The Sevening’ by ObstinateMelon here on DA, it parodies the story very nicely - and I’m not sure I agree with the overexploitation argument, at least not for Smash Bros. Final Fantasy as a franchise is completely absent from Smash outside of one Fighter, one Stage, and two music tracks. Personally, I see this as primarily coming from Square Enix being stingy with their biggest game, but we don’t know for sure, so you may very well be right.
I assume that last bit is meant as a jab at Ryu, Ken, and Terry, as characters from other fighting games where inputs like [hold down-back -> half circle up-forward] are common. We may just have to agree to disagree on that one - Ken is possibly my favorite character in Ultimate, though I admit they could have definitely chosen someone more interesting as a second Street Fighter rep than Ryu #2, like for example Vega(and I’m still waiting for a Tekken character Sakurai), and I love crossovers of all kinds so any franchise with fewer than eight characters getting another Fighter is ultimately ok with me in the end, even if I don’t agree with some of the choices, like Bayonetta(we wanna talk fanservice, let’s talk fanservice and call them out for that one, she was the only DLC Fighter I did not purchase on the 3DS).
Thanks again for sharing your opinion, good sir. I apologize again if I seem hostile, it’s not my intent. Hope you have a good rest of your week!
(Also between you and me I don’t particularly want Shantae either, haha)

Wait, why the HELL is eggman there, i bet he's on the deepest parts of a "Smash bros iceburg" of wanted characters.
