...one of my rather desperate "attempts" to paint with 100% watercolor again...Sometimes it comes over me and I want to desperately paint with watercolor only, but it always turnes out like a mess, like this time...
So after a big frustration I thought, I can still save this painting and went over it with my usual technique, using acrylics and airbrushs as well... and hey, it turned out quite nice, I think...

Worked out very well.
Used to do that , too, when I still painted, giving every one a second chance.Β Sometimes they ask for more than just one treatment, you know. Paintings got their own life. ;o)

well excellent job
but sounds like you need to learn more how to get out of trouble with water colours then how to use them
not that I know much about painting at all just I think from what little I remember of water colours they can be like a runaway freight train..
but I am sure once you get the hang of them you will do some very beautiful art
and what you paint would let its self beautifully to the medium, to my way of thinking anyway

Hmmm... it's just that I feel very limited with watercolors and also that I have no "eye" for them... Technically it's o.k but I always see, that can do so much more by combining them with other media.
It's like using a "limited" graphic-program on a PC and you realize you could add more depths and effects with using another one as well...
Anyway, I always learn from my little "excursions" into another media... and it's always fun

As I said no idea on painting and never formally trained in art at all really
well I think thats the thing with water colours
how you perceive what you paint and your right,
they tend to be of a more digital nature
you either have it or not
blending isn't really what they are about
I guess really its painting more like a cartoon style
were its not colour and shading as in as much light and shadow in color with a more step function between the two
it amazes me with how little some cartoonist can capture what makes you you with a drawing and I guess that a little of the eye you need for water colour
your not trying to create a painting of a realty as it is photographically..or abstraction of
but trying to capture the essence of what make that image unique and real in a more minimal way
(although there can be a lot of complexity in some water colours)
So yes you need to look at it through new eyes and I guess you just like being more the former then the later..with your art
but as I said, if you did you would do excellent art in water colour of that I am sure..
I am glad you enjoy your little excursions there too as that to me is truly what art should be about enjoyment & exploration
